Circle/Together Time_Friday

Bible

Sing

Memory work: Ephesians 1:3 - 14

Pray

Read Aloud

Artist Study: Raphael

We read a bit more each week about the chosen artist. Then we study 4x6 prints that I have previously printed. We talk about the time period and who influenced the artist.

My goal is to expose the kids to beautiful art and a different lens in which to view a period of history.

Resource: Getting to know the World’s Greatest Artist’s and various art history books from our shelves. Before the kid’s are allowed to peruse any art book, I do go through it and sharpie in clothes on the figures who lost theirs.

I also keep a kid friendly spot, set up with prints and books. The kids will stop and read or look at the pictures a few times a week.

The rest of circle time is left open to make up for anything we missed during the week and of course push ups and sit ups!

Circle/Together time _Monday

Kendra has posted about circle time and mentions that I recently shared at our churches homeschool encouragement day, what the kid’s and I accomplish together during our school week.

So for this week, I am going to list each day what we do together and what resources we are currently using.

But first!

When we started circle time I planned way too much. I planned many good things with high hopes, but my kid’s just weren’t ready for them. Things were not working. It was so much work! It took stepping back (stopping everything) praying for guidance (asking the Lord what he would have me teach during this time) and then taking very small steps to pull the time together.

I began planning one thing at a time and trying it. After the 5-10 minute time together, I would send the kid’s to do something else and write down how it went, what, if any  resources or supplies I needed to make it better and how long it took to complete.

Pretty soon I saw what was possible and pulled all those mini lessons together. Since then, we have added a few more lessons here and there.

Here is what we currently do on Monday’s:
