Do the Next Thing

In my home this week

Celebrations:  My birthday.  Don't ask cuz you already know it's over 40.  The familiy took me to Chipiarelli's in Little Italy in Baltimore for dinner, then to Vacarro's for dessert.  This is a dessert only Italian restaurant.  I had Baci Gelato, which is Italian hazelnut ice cream.  Ammmmmmmazing.

Big project:  Defrosted the garage freezer

Little project:  canned some tomatoe sauce with the last of the Roma tomatoes

I'm Reading:  Future Homemakers of America, by Laurie Graham (still not sure I like the book, and now not sure I'll finish it as I just read a review which states the author incorporates gay characters into her stories.    I haven't come to that yet.  If you know me, you'd know why the cover was appealing to me.  I hardly ever take a chance on a book without a personal recommendation, but this one caught my eye at the library while looking for more Francine River books.  She's my fave.

The Future Homemakers of America

What's in the oven:  Yesterday I made two loaves of Zucchini Lemon bread.  It's a new recipe I found on allrecipe.com and lighter and less sugary than traditional zucchini bread.

Personal Bible Studies:  Going through Table Talk by R.C. Sproul. http://www.ligonier.org/tabletalk/index.php  This month's theme is the sixth century.

Family Devotions:  How Now Shall We Live, by Chuck Colson.

What I'm praying for:  The Lord to draw both of my sons to himself.  They seem to putting their faith on hold in their lives.  Not sure what their holding out for.  They know the truth.  Also praying for excitement and energy to homeschool this year.  My daughter, the baby, will be a junior.  I guess as I relinquish more and more of the teaching to classes she's taking, my enthusiasm wanes.

What I'm worrying over, but need to be praying about:  My son as he house sits for us this week while we're at the beach.  Just concerned he'll forget to feed the rabbit, or lock the doors, put the trash out on trash night, or, or, or,    you know all those things moms remember.

What I had for breakfast:  Scrambled eggs with zucchini and cottage cheese.  I know it sounds weird, but it's good and diminishes my zucchini supply by 1/2 a zuke!  I saute the chopped zucchini, then add the eggs mixed with cottage cheese.

In the sewing room:  My daughter and I made hobo bags this week . We each bought two coordinating home dec fabrics, kinda like lightweight canvas, and made these easy reversible bags in a couple of hours.   I'm going to add some kind of closure to mine and I found an old button I want to use as a trim.  Clancy added cute ribbon and a tailored bow to hers.  I'll post pictures.

In the beauty dept:  I had my nails done yesterday.  My toes in red, always, and my fingernails shortened and filled.  I had solar nails done three weeks ago as I had a bunch of special occasions to attend.  Instead of taking them off as planned, I decided to have them filled.  I'm a picker of my nails and cuticles, and when I have tips I leave them alone.  So worry-free nails for vacation.

On the road:  traveling to the Outer Banks of NC to spend time with two other families at the beach!

What I'm packing:  My bathing suit, and the backgammon board for the beach

Looking forward to: spending time with my husband walking on the beach, letterboxing, bike riding, and exploring lighthouses.  Ahhhhh.........

Procrastinating:  Packing.  Gotta go do that right now.

I love the way you have done this weekly list. Lemme see - I think Zukes are in the menu right now! :)

Have fun at the beach. Hope that either book turns out okay or you find a better one.
