Do the Next Thing

Aug. 9, 2007

Guess What?

I've been walking since April at least 3-4 times per week, and 1.5 to 2 miles. We run occassionally part of the way around the track. I'd set a goal of running ALL the way around the track before my birthday which is this Sunday. Well, today I DID IT! I ran all the way around the track. Whooo-Hoooo!

Even at 6:30 am it was pretty hot, so I decided to run the first lap instead of somewhere in the middle of our laps. I kept my pace nice and even and not very fast. When I rounded the third corner I just knew I could do it, and pushed through to the end. My neighbors were cheering me on and another woman we know at the track who walks backwards was coaching me along.

It feels so good to have made this goal. Now for my next goal: To run 2 laps, or half a mile by my 27th wedding anniversary September 20th.

I just had to share this, and hopefully it will inspire someone to get out there today and exercise.

Blessings for your day~ Dana

Hi Dana,

I added another pic of my dd's blanket if you're interested in seeing it up closer. She was happy to read your message. Good for you for exercising, BTW! I don't love it, but need to do it more. :)

God bless you, CaliCarolina

Also, it was nice to hear about the class you hosted and the blankets you all were able to donate. :) I didn't learn handiwork, so we are very grateful to others who are willing to give of their time and talents!

Aug. 9, 2007 - the stitch

I'll have her ask her friend who taught her the stitch, b/c my dd can't remember what it's called. She actually knitted blocks, then crocheted them together, then crocheted the border.

We like P & P and Anne, too. Have you seen North and South or Wives and Daughters? Those are wonderful, as well. :)

Thanks again for the encouragement.

What a great feeling to meet that goal of getting around the track. I need to start walking to get in better shape.
I clicked on Random Blog on the homepage and got yours today....
I have enjoyed reading your recipes and am very thankful your son didn't get hurt worse than he did.
I lived in Massey, Maryland for four weeks about ten years ago.
Have a great day.
