Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday  I'm still trying to figure out why I can't insert the image for Thankful Thursday, but at least I can be thankful and blog about my thankfulness.

Hmmmmmmmm..... today I'm thankful God has led us to our new church.   This past weekend we were introduced as members at our new church and we had our socks blessed off.  We are amazed at how God has brought us to this church even though we resisted and had lots of excuses not to make the change.  "No, it's too far away," was our biggest excuse.   But we realize now we'd drive to the ends of the earth for the teaching and focus on the gospel we're receiving.    Many of our friends from our old church would agree about issue we had there, but would always end the conversation with, "But we stay because of the relationships we have here."  We just did not feel that was an adequate answer to questions about leadership and teaching at that church.  We saw big holes due to the trickle down effect of leaders who struggled with the Timothy model of discipling their own wives and children.  OK, I'm not going to get into all the reasons we left our former church, but suffice it to say we are so THANKFUL God has led us to our new home.

Many folks who we've told where we're attending comment on or ask the question, "Oh, is that the guy who wrote I Kissed Dating Good-bye? "  Yes, that's the one.  Here's a link if you want to take a peek.  Our new church

Oh, I know which church you're going to as its right around the corner from me. That is pretty far, but it is so great to be where God wants you to be. I have several friends who go there.

BTW, I need to pick your brain about finding lye and other supplies for making soap. Have you made soap recently? Its been a good 2 years for me and all those bookmarks are long gone! :)

Hi, I am glad you are blessed with your new church. Our church has recently had a total meltdown with a serious split and several people leaving, etc. We were blessed to become involved with a very local church-right next door- about a year ago and now that the renovations are done and it has opened for Sunday and Wednesday evening services, we are tickled to be attending there.
I actually have a copy of "I Kissed Kating Goodbye" in front of me and absolutely loved the book. My 13 year old daughter read the book and feels the same way.
May you be blessed in your new church and may you be a blessing as well. Take care and have a great day.

Debbie, you asked about soap. No I haven't made it recently, but am planning on doing it this week or next so it will be ready for gifting by Christmas.

I know you cannot buy lye in the form it used to be sold. I can't remember the brand now, but you could buy it in the hardware stores in the toilet drain area. My husband bought some from a farm store near his office, it's like a State Farm store. I'll use this along with crisco, and plan to make "Almond Joy." Let me know if you need help with finding the lye. Michael could always pick some up for you.
BTW, I figured our new church was near you, so now you know where we spend most of our time.....on the road. ha!

Wow, thanks Dana, I will definitely try the hardware store and we do have a feed store nearby, perhaps that will yield something promising.

Thanks!
