• Sunday, April 2, 2006 - VEHICLE Challenge

I don't know about you, but my Suburban suffers every winter.  It's too cold for me to want to get in there and do some serious cleaning, and it's amazing how much junk accumulates in there!  I've noticed lately that it's taken on the order something like that of... lettuce (which is better than that dirty diaper we couldn't find that one time…).   Anyway, I don't get out much (hubby obviously is keeping me bare-foot and pregnant, but when I do venture outdoors, I love to get into a clean vehicle, not to mention how my husband cringes when he has to drive it when we all go somewhere and it's a disaster!

Print out the detailed cleaning list for the vehicle by clicking on the following link.
VEHICLE

Go to you organizer and write in your "NOTES" section what needs to get done exactly so you don't forget, and when you've finished, be sure to mark the date.  This will help you to remember when you took care of these things last and how often things need to get done around your home.  If something can't get done for now, that's okay… do what you can and keep your list so you can remember what still needs to get done for one of those times when you can get to it.

Blessings,
Amy

I just had an inspiration. I was trying to figure out when I was going to get cleaning the car out into my schedule for tomorow. My son has violin lessons and I am going to bring bags with me and pickup trash and clutter while I wait. We ( 2 yr old and I ) usually sit in on the lesson cause his teacher lives too far out to leave and come back. I love multitasking!!

Something our family does to help deter that clutter build up in the van is to assign the kids the chore of cleaning it weekly. I have 2 kids so each takes half of the van and brings in the trash and clutter and wipes it down with a dust cloth. Then when I do clean it throroughly, all I really need to do is vaccuum.

I did go through a bunch of magazines. This week, in particular, I went through a whole pile of Family Fun Magazines and cut out some craft and recipe ideas for my day care. I am putting together a binder for the daycare for all of the information I choose to keep. I have also gone through the daycare files, newsletters, etc and done the same. What used to fit on one of my book shelves, will now fit into one binder.

I am also ahead just a little on the kitchen. I cleaned the entire stove and oven one night last week when I couldn't sleep.

The girls bedrooms will not get done during this clean home challenge. The reason? They are both repaing their rooms this summer. When they do we will take everything out, clean it, paint, then only put back what they will be keeping.

I already did all of that with my bedroom, so all I will have to do is some basic cleaning, and some organizing of craft materials.

I am doing the challenge too, this is so fun! Well, cleaning isn't fun, but doing it together like this is fun! I did the van today, washed the outside, dusted the inside, windexed, decluttered and vacuumed. I didn't clean the kid's carseats though. I may get to that later though! I think I did plenty for today. Van.....check!

I can't believe it, but I did it!!!! Can you tell how amazed I am? My dear daughter helped me, but we got it all done. My Suburban is cleaner than it's ever been since we've owned it now, I followed your instruction to a T! What an inspiration you are Amy, thank you! My Hubby is going to be floored when he gets home. :-)

I cleaned my van this weekend..actually, it is the 3rd time I vacumed it in the last 2 weeks. Your challenge has really kept "clean" on my brain. I even cleaned out the garage this weekend. It just feels so good to walk into an area that was previously embarassingly cluttered and just stand and admire. I really appreicate this challenge, Amy. Moving has forced us to clean out, but there were still a few places where we said, "Awww, it won't matter." But, it does! God has blessed us with a decent roof over our heads and safe vehicles to drive, keeping them in good order is a way to honor His blessings. Again, many thanks!

I know that summer's almost here, but I just found you blog page this weekend. I am extremely motivated and can't wait to surprise my hubby this afternoon when he sees the van.
Thank you for all your hard work,
