• Saturday, April 8, 2006 - ENTRANCE Challenge

I don't really have an official "entry or foyer" in my home.  What you walk into is the living room, but I have made it a workable space since everyone has a place that you (and your guests) walk into and put their coats, shoes, etc.

A few things I did to make my entrance "stand out" and be functional was:
  • put a bench for anyone to sit on to put shoes on or take them off
  • hangers on the wall to put our keys (if you don't do this, I would suggest getting a basket to keep in your closet so you're not always searching for them in coat pockets, etc.)
  • cubbies in the closet for one pair of shoes for each person in our home
  • mirror by door (you know I like to make sure that I "look" the part of the bedraggled house-wife upon venturing out!)
  • arrange the livingroom furniture in a way that it created two spaces instead of one
  • rug to "catch" the majority of the dirt coming in
Here's a picture of my entrance:

ENTRANCE

Go to you organizer and write in your "NOTES" section what needs to get done exactly so you don't forget, and when you've finished, be sure to mark the date.  This will help you to remember when you took care of these things last and how often things need to get done around your home.  If something can't get done for now, that's okay… do what you can and keep your list so you can remember what still needs to get done for one of those times when you can get to it.

Hi Amy. Thanks for the verse in the previous post. I was looking for one on "order" for my book and just saw it. God is very good.

By the way, I must confess that I am way, way behind in my CHCHC. It is all due to my attitude towards housework. Still working on it, struggling with it, and making such small improvements that there is hardly a dent in the mountain of work to be done. I hope this does not discourage the rest but I am still trying.
I love the picture of your entrance. It looks super.

A thought crossed my mind. With all the hard work you are doing, perhaps your baby will come earlier.

Praying for you and once again, just to let you know that I am awed by the amount of energy you have in taking us all through this. Thanks a bunch.

Love and blessings,
Ai Boon

You can come and see my pictures... I finally have posted about my progress! :)
I am so excited about how clean my house is getting! So is my husband! I just need to not lose sight of maintaining the order in my heart. That is the real issue for me. I really am grateful for all that you've done to put this together. I still am not receiving e-mails. I know you have a lot to do...
I'm enjoying the feeling of accomplishment! :)
