Since my home is small, you can see part of my kitchen when you enter my home. Not only that, but the kitchen really holds a lot of our time. I joke that when I get to heaven, I'm going to ask God why He didn't just make us to eat once a day... and pill form would be even better! I feel as if I just get done picking up the kitchen, and it's time to begin preparing the next meal! Even I have to admit that cooking is a lot more enjoyable in a clean and organized kitchen! In fact, it really makes my morning when I walk into it and it's "sparkly" clean!
So, with that being said, it's time to tackle the kitchen and dining room projects. I don't have a dining room so I'll be in my kitchen the entire time. The kitchen really takes a fair amount of time. It holds a lot of things in there and we're going to take care of it all. Be patient with yourself. This room isn't going to get done in a day. It may even spread into some of your other challenge days (especially if you have a dining room as well), and that's okay... it's better to get it done to completion! It will do your heart good!
Pace yourself and decide where you'd like to begin if you have a both dining room and kitchen. As I said, the kitchen is a big project, so decide if you'd like to begin in there or if you'd like to start with the dining room instead.

Go to you organizer and write in your "NOTES" section what needs to get done exactly so you don't forget, and when you've finished the room, be sure to mark the date. This will help you to remember when you took care of these things last and how often things need to get done around your home. If something can't get done for now, that's okay… do what you can and keep your list so you can remember what still needs to get done for one of those times when you can get to it.
Oh... I almost forgot... I wanted to share something I wrote awhile back, but for those of you who haven't seen it... I hope it will give you a chuckle! (Click on the following link to see the previous post...) Twelve Signs You've Been Neglectful in Your Kitchen
I don't have a dining room -- but I have a huge kitchen. The kitchen is home to our school room AND my home office!!! I think I will break it down into the three areas. Kitchen/school room/office. That way I won't get overwhelmed!
It took me two days, and I haven't quite made final decisions on a few things. I'm leaning toward the church garage sale at the end of the month. Please visit my site to see the before/during and after pictures.
Each clean area frees a burden from my shoulders and strengthens me to go on. I think doing this during Holy Week is so perfect. Each time I wanted to quit, I meditate on the cross Jesus carried for me. My crosses are burdens, but really small. I'm humbled through this cleaning challenge and pray this meditation and conviction remains in my heart beyond this season!
I havent gotten to the kitchen/Dining Room, yet. It is my biggest obstacle so I probably should have gotten to it first but I didnt. My kitchen is the biggest room in the house. It is a kitchen combined dining room, combined computer room, combined kennel, combined collection of everything that has no other official place.
Due to traveling plans and the clothes my children so desperately needed, we did not get the kitchen/dining room done. We shopped and packed instead. I'll have to shift the rest of my schedule around to accomodate.
Yeah to flexibility.
We found the cutest "I love Mom" t-shirts at Old Navy. My daughter & I are wearing them today as we go to visit my mom. Fun!
Hi! I am jumping into the wagon a couple of weeks late. I couldn't understand why I hadn't heard about the challenge before, and then this morning I realized I hadn't "friended" your blog! (Thought I had a month ago, but I hadn't, I guess.)
So took care of that detail. Whew.
Anyhow, hope you have a blessed day and a glorious Resurrection Day!
Since there are no new posts from you (and you're so prolific), I'm wondering if you've had that baby just a tiny bit early. If so, I hope (s)he turned all the way around and that you are well. If you haven't, I hope you're just taking some well-earned rest, and not that you have been trapped in your kitchen by a huge pile of unidentified flying pantry items!

I know it has been a hard week for you, but I pray that God would give you a glimpse as to how many people you are helping and how grateful I will forever be that you are using your God-given gifts to serve Him by serving us.
There is the baking cupboard to deal with but I need to do that on a child free day (see blog for why!) but mostly my kitchen is now okay, not perfect but okay. i took the full week over it as my house doesn't have all the rooms your list has so I can afford to re-jig here and there.
and a woman seeking the Lord's Will (daily), a wife (striving to keep the romance alive), a "Smamma" (Step- mother) of one and a homeschooling mom of seven (I was never going to have children), who starts every day over (after messing SOME thing up the day before), knowing God's grace is overflowing (just like my laundry), and so thankful He's blessed me more than I'll ever deserve.
