• Saturday, August 13, 2005 - Homeschool Freedom Day!

Eclectic Bibliophile had a wonderful idea she posted as a response in "SHARE and Tell" that I had to share!  She always celebrates "Homeschool Freedom Day" by doing something with her kids (she wrote, "usually with a picnic in the park") on the first day of public school every year, no matter when they start their homeschool year.  Doesn't that sound like a great tradition?  I LOVE IT!  I'm marking my calendar!  Our public school starts September 6th and we'll be having a picnic, and maybe a special dinner with dad that evening.  I'll have to think of something "crafty" maybe too... I'll wait to see what you guys write!

SHARE and Tell:
  • When does your public school year start?
  • What will you do for "Homeschool Freedom Day"?

School in our area starts Monday, August 15th. We will be spending a relaxing day with my in-laws in a very small town in east Texas.

The last of our local schools start today (Monday, August 15). We are going apple picking! But we already had that planned to do and I love the idea of a Freedom Day!

I think that for homeschool freedom day.....we will read books all day, everywhere...in the hammock, on the trampoline, in the tree fort, on the front porch swing....for such is REAL living.
Ah, aren't you glad we are FREE!?
Warmly,

Thank you Amy for your sweet words over on my blog! Can I just share with you how many times I wrote and re-wrote that entry on Robert? The first 3 times I cried all the way through it and had to put it aside and wait to work on it again. Then I lost the entire entry and had to write it again. I was quite discouraged and frustrated. What prompted me to go back to it was the bracelet I got for my bday. I moved my watch but not Robert's band. My dds said they knew I wouldn't. Oh gee...here come the tears again! Anyway..it's so nice someone appreciated it and read it.

So glad you liked the idea, Amy! Thanks for passing it on.

My boys and I relish the freedom and flexibility that homeschooling makes possible.

Blessings,

Please pray for my son currently being treated for Lyme's disease

I'M "JUST" A MOM...
and a woman seeking the Lord's Will (daily), a wife (striv- ing to keep the romance alive), a "Smamma" (Step- mother) of one and a homeschooling mom of seven (I was never going to have child- ren), who starts every day over (after messing SOME thing up the day before), knowing God's grace is overflowing (just like my laundry), and so thankful He's blessed me more than I'll ever deserve.
