• Wednesday, July 12, 2006 - Our Homeschool 2006-2007

I'm really excited as we're going to be starting some new things that I think are going to be great.  The kids each have something they're REALLY looking forward to, so that makes it even more fun.  I asked each of them what was something that they wanted to learn about or do, so along with the things that they have to do, they have something that they're really excited about as well.  Keep in mind when looking at this list, that I'm not doing everything with everyone, but I've included everything that I'm doing eventually this year (okay... does THAT make sense?).  The items with an * are what we are currently doing (so you can see how much is being done since this is quite a bit of stuff, and to be honest... I'm not sure if everything will get done or not.  Things are in a constant state of change with our newest blessing and the first year of his life is tough in trying to maintain a schedule (or at least that's been my experience in the past!).

I will continue updating here (I plan to share a little about each thing and will give the links here as I make the posts, so keep checking back to see what's new).  You can also read SHARE and Tell: Your Curriculum for 2006-07 to see what others have already shared about what they're using, and please leave a comment on what you'll be using this year (either here or on your blog and then tell us so we can check it out)!  So here it is... our curriculum for 2006-07!  Unless otherwise stated, each subject is done Monday through Friday.

(I have provided links for you to check out our curriculum.  Please note that not all links provided are where I purchased the curriculum, but just good pictures of what I'm using, therefore, they may not the prices that are the least expensive, or "best deal".  If you are going to purchase similar things, please don't hesitate to "shop around" to make sure you're able to get not only the best deals, but maybe help out some of our fellow homeschool bloggers who have stores of their own, as well as the new HSB store!)

Amy....I just wanted to thank you for your nice comment on my blog the other day. I'm new here, so I guess I don't know all the ropes yet. The problem was with a family member, and it has been taken care of. I had to make a lot of changes, but that's okay. Anything to keep peace in the family.....I'm going to hang in there because I am really enjoying this. Your blog is great. I especially like how you list prayer requests...I found a great new friend that way! I also REALLY like SHMILYtime. It's great. I look forward to getting to know you better, so I'll be back to visit soon.....thanks again for the encouragement. I'm not calling it quits yet! Grace to you....

Love, Kathy

It is so helpful to see what others are doing. I am going to try to post something similar by the end of next week.

Thanks for spreading all of your joy and keeping us updated with prayer requests.

I like how you set up your listings by topic.
We are using Beyond Little Hearts for His Glory this year.
I can hardly wait to get the book in August. Until then, I've
worked on the 3Rs. Can't wait to read what others are doing!

I haven't used "The Novel Way" before, but it looks great so I'm excited about that. As for Chemistry... I have level 2 and a friend of mine has level 1. They both look great, but if you had older children (mine will be in fifth grade) I would suggest starting with the level 2. My friend sat down and looked over the material and SHE even learned things, so either one is very good. If you're going to have little ones listening in, level one would be great since they could be learning too. My younger ones are going to be doing a different science, so I wasn't worried about that (the level two would have been tough for them to follow).

Hope that helps... I plan on writing a little about each thing I'm using for better explanations, but just haven't gotten around to it... that will take a little more time however!

I know it looks like a lot... (and it probably is) but keep in mind that I just put down what's being used, and not who it's being used for... a lot is for my fifth grader, and then there's quite a bit that's being used for a few of them together. It's really not a lot when it's all broken down... but since I'm a firm believer in having the child work to their ability (some are faster and some are slower) I chose not to share which child is doing what...

I had to laugh at your comment though! I'm blessed with a homeschool friend that does the same thing as me, so I love her to death and she lets me know when I'm biting off more than I can chew!

Take a look http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/gabalot/170783/

I've simplified this year, I hope, and so do my children. I tend to pile quite a bit on them, so I am trying to hold back a bit.
