• Thursday, August 2, 2007 - I just wanna praise Him...
I have to share with you, that Mike and I began traveling to a church 20 miles away to help grow God's kingdom in an area that we were called to help since last September (we're "short-distance-long-term missionaries"). While we first struggled with the idea of gas prices and finances being how they were, not to mention the fact that we lived across the street from the church we'd been attending... it just didn't add up how God would call us to do such a "crazy" thing... yet, we knew without a doubt that it was what He wanted us to do (I will share that story another time). Through our struggles with that, the Lord has been faithful (of course), and even provided through two very special couples both financially and through giving us food in two of our toughest moments (the following video made me cry... when you watch it you'll understand) and Mike and I were completely humbled by their act of generosity as well as being reminded of God's love for us, His servants.
I have no idea when these struggles will end... or even if I'll be around when they do. That's not negative... that's just a fact. I've not been promised a "time frame" on this earth. I don't know how long I have here, but I do know that as long as I'm here, my children are watching... and seeing how I respond. And I'm not talking about putting on a "fake smile"... I'm talkin' about the joy that will only come from the Lord in the midst of the chains that bind...
So, for now, I'm choosing to look at the moment... instead of the future. You know, it's just too overwhelming right now... No more next year... no more next week... no more tomorrow. Just today... just for now...
Take these shackles off my feet Lord... I just wanna praise You...
We are His hands and feet here on this earth...there are so many ways of blessing...I am so glad that God has given you these special people and that He has used them to bless you - may you find joy in His presence today. ~Colleen~
Thank you for this great reminder that even when we don't see a way God will make a way and provide. I read this in a newsletter that I receive from David Wilkerson:
"...Keep on praying - even when the situation worsens. God is going to answer in his time, in ways you could not imagine. The hardest part of faith is the last half hour, just before the answer comes."
Hang in there~God will make a way.

Amen! It's good to see you back blogging. It's therepeutic (at least for me).
The early Christians had a strong belief in "Christus Victor" (Christ is victorious!). It is this belief that allowed them to endure many struggles, persecution and martyrdom. This ancient core Christian doctrine has been usurped today by many competing peripheral teachings. We would do good today to recapture "Christus Victor!" as central to our faith.
(btw - Noble was almost Victor because of this).
On another note... I am always humbled whenever I visit an African American church by their "simple" faith and desire to praise God in all and despite all things. Things like "I just praise God for getting me up this morning" and "I just praise God for keeping me from getting drunk last night" remind me of how God is in the "small things" that we so often take for granted.
I found your blog from the clean hearts/clean home devotional a friend sent me.
I really needed to see your blog and that video. I too have been struggling big time and I just need to keep the faith that God will bring me through it. PRAISE GOD!!
BTW: I am a beginning homeschooler. So thank you to all who have been doing it for a long time
Amy,
It's nice to see you back! I am just coming back to HSB after I've been on a break from here. I missed everyone! I am always blessed while visiting your blog, you remind me that I'm not the only broken daughter of the King out there. We are also going through debt problems here, and you are right. The Lord will pull us through. You and your family are in my prayers. God bless you for letting the Lord use you for His purpose.
My, My, My. Now that was shoutworthy. I thank my God for you. I thank God for what you have posted here today. You may think me crazy, but when I heard this song today as I was reading your post, I broke out in praise. I danced before the Lord right here in my lil'room. I got lost in the presence ( I must admit I hadn't finished reading the post before the Holy Spirit came in and filled this place) Of an Almighty God. I am so glad I stopped by:) :) :)
Sorry such a long comment. Thanks again, I really needed it.
Be blessed

Looking forward to hearing about you and reading your Updates!
and a woman seeking the Lord's Will (daily), a wife (striving to keep the romance alive), a "Smamma" (Step- mother) of one and a homeschooling mom of seven (I was never going to have children), who starts every day over (after messing SOME thing up the day before), knowing God's grace is overflowing (just like my laundry), and so thankful He's blessed me more than I'll ever deserve.
