I have walked 1 miles...
1.11% of my goal of 90 miles by January 6th, 2008!!
My husband has walked 22 miles...
7.86% of his goal of 280 miles by January 6th, 2008!!
It's one week until we start school... and I'm getting things in order. As I finish up plans for school and get things ready for the coming school year, Mike and I are also starting something "new". After six pregnancies, "tone" is HARDLY" the word to describe myself... and let's just say that I was FLOORED when I waved this summer and I noticed I had my grandma's arms!!! Where did THAT come from??!! I'm completely out of shape (and HATE) to exercise... while my husband has needed to loose weight for years (and HATES to exercise and LOVES food... he's an awesome cook!). So we start today with our exercise "program". After coming across a "once fellow homeschool blogger" and seeing her weight loss... well, I was inspired! Janne looks amazing!
AMY'S PLAN:
Monday - Fridays: Walk 1 mile (on treadmill, or to WALK THE WALK with the kids)
Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays: Hula hoop for 15 minutes (increase?)
Monday-Saturdays: 25 sit ups (increase to 50)
Monday-Saturdays: push ups (um... this will take some work since I can't do them! Increase to 25)
Every day: 60 oz. of water
MIKE'S PLAN:
Monday - Fridays: Walk 1 mile (on treadmill) for 10 days, then begin 2 mile walks until January
Monday-Saturdays: 25 sit ups (increase to 50)
Monday-Saturdays: 25 push ups (increase to 100)
Every day: 100 oz of water
NO SWEETS (ONE day on weekend can "splurge" a little)
Afternoon: Shaklee shake (as budget allows), fruit or salad
Evening: One plate of food at meals (drink 2 glasses of water before to help feel full)
Snack: Fruit Leather, fruit, or frozen yogurt (1 cup)
NO EATING AFTER 6PM!
I will continue to update our walking tickers to keep us accountable! To check up on how we're doing, just click on the little walker on the sidebar and it will bring you back here. Here's to a better-looking-healthier 2008!
I knew that if it wasn't something we could LIVE with, that we'd never see it to the end. Because my husband loves food, none of the "special" diets have worked. For now, we'll just do portion control and see how it goes. He's really not much for junk food... he just makes so many wonderful dishes that it's hard to only eat one plate full! I hope that this, along with some exercise will show improvements. I know we'll be healthier for it as well!
It's great that you're doing this program. I, too, am on a weight loss journey and have been going to Curves and walking. I haven't been able to do it for the past two weeks because of my back, but anxious to get back to it. I'll be praying for you as you start this jorney with hubby and also for your financial struggles. I know how hard that is. God bless you!
I think it is great that you and your husband are doing this "together".
You have been given an award, Please stop by my blogto pick it up. Thank You.

My husband and I are trying to get healthier. We are committing to using our small eliptical and increasing our time each time we do it.
Keep up the good work.
Ruth
I started walking a mile every day in April. It really does help! However I don't "do" sit ups!!!
After ten babies I guess my tummy is there to stay!
Enjoyed your blog. Lord bless, Theresa
and a woman seeking the Lord's Will (daily), a wife (striving to keep the romance alive), a "Smamma" (Step- mother) of one and a homeschooling mom of seven (I was never going to have children), who starts every day over (after messing SOME thing up the day before), knowing God's grace is overflowing (just like my laundry), and so thankful He's blessed me more than I'll ever deserve.
