My husband gave me a beautiful black leather notebook the other day and wrote inside, "May your thoughts be as wonderful on paper as you are wonderful to me..." As I read those words, I realized that I couldn't just use this wonderful little book as a journal. My thoughts can be pretty icky at times... honest... but icky. For days, I pondered what this special gift should be used for. And then I went to my friend,
Ann's blog, and saw her last post on her
1000 Gifts list... and then I knew.
With all the ups and downs in my life right now, I have found myself struggling to balance on my shaky ground. Praising God for His goodness in writing could certainly be helpful in the moments of complete chaos or utter despair... and so I've begun my list of "
THINGS THAT MAKE ME SMILE" and thanking the Lord for each one. As I started writing on the clean page, I numbered each one wondering how many things will fill these pages and what a wonderful thing for my children to see someday. Sure, I have my journals of honesty and struggles... I want my children to know the "real me", that it may encourage them in their own lives someday... but this little notebook will be different... this one will be focused... this one will give only praise.
It's about time...
Still Seeking,
Amy
