• Monday, November 5, 2007 - Day Five... My Children & Baby to Come
Heavenly Father,
Today I thank You for the gift of my children. Lord, You know I never even planned on having children... I never wanted any. I thank You for a greater plan than I ever could have imagined. I am amazed at how You changed my heart... and made it big enough to love each blessing that has come into my life.
Lord, You know that it's not easy to have a lot of children in today's world. I've far surpassed what's "normal" or "acceptable" awhile ago. It's hard to always stand for what we believe is a gift from You when so many view children as something you do and then enjoy AFTER they're gone. We know better Lord, but please forgive me for the times where I've struggled with those thoughts myself... when I've found myself wondering how we will afford another mouth to feed...
And so with that, I thank You for our blessing due in March... but Lord, You know my heart and know that this pregnancy has been anything but easy for me. I've defended it with all of my heart... I know this baby is a gift from You... but in the quiet hours (and not so quiet moments), You know that I've wondered how we will make it through. Through our financial "crisis", I have worried and even been upset that this has happened... but Lord, I know You have a plan. I know that You have never left us. I know You have promised to provide. So Lord, help me to be strong when people ask why we would be so irresponsible to have another child when we struggle to feed the ones we have. Lord, help me to rest in the peace of knowing You have it under control, and that even though I live in this world... I will not be of it. Help me to fight the worldly opinions of "too many" children and focus on the blessings You continue to provide in our children... regardless of what reality is... Lord, I beg You to help me clearly see things from Your perspective and not be overcome by the things of today.
I know I have more than some can... I know there are women who try to conceive... who have had miscarriages or children die, and as I say a prayer for them to be comforted, I say thank You for giving more than I'll ever deserve. Please help me to raise these children of Yours Lord. Guide me and help me to know what they need to learn, so they will be ready for the plans You have for them. Let me not forget that homeschooling is more than math and reading... I am raising warriors for You and You are looking at their hearts.
Thank You Lord for blessing me so abundantly. Lord, give me the strength to never be embarrassed about being pregnant or nursing almost constantly since my first child... but to embrace it with confidence in You and Your plan for my life with nothing more "glorious" than to be a Godly woman, wife and mother. Help me to not keep silent about the wonderful gift of motherhood and precious gifts that children truly are.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! Did I miss something before? Or was that your first announcement?? I'm so happy for you! Let me just share something with you a minute too.
I'm the oldest of five kids and I remember when my mother found out she was expecting number 5 (total shock!!) My Dad had just lost his job a couple of months before, and my Mom was working part time for my grandfather until he could find someone to hire. He found someone after several months of searching, the very week that my mother found out she was expecting! Now there was a baby on the way, they were both out of work, and there were already four other ones of us who were in Christian school (expensive!).
That brother (who I wanted to be a sister and cried for hours when I was told he was a boy) has been a sheer delight to our family!! He was a true gift from God to us all! He is like my first baby since I was nearly twelve when he was born and my Mom broke her elbow when he was a few months old - so I had to take care of him alot!
We never lost the house, had plenty to eat (actually food stamps gave my Mom more for food than we usually spent! LOL!), and we even remained in the Christian school due to a fund to help families in time of need! God was good! God was faithfull! God gave us a precious gift in my brother (who by the way is about to become a father himself in a couple of weeks! Scary!)
Be encouraged dear Amy! And enjoy this blessing from above! God has a special plan in these little 'surprises' that he sends! And He is no man's debtor! He will supply your every need!
I can understand about the "too many" children comments and I only have three. I have a neighbor that makes that comment everytime I say I would like to have more children. Her answer is always, "why would you want to have more?" "you wouldn't be able to do the things you do now"
That just proves that we need to spread God's word concerning children as a blessing a lot more than we do.
So excited for you!
Congrats on your 8th blessing, straight from the Lord on high!! Praying for you to be strengthened, encouraged and renewed daily ( as we all need to be).
Lori
Dear Amy,
I read your post every day it comes into my email box...you are a blessing to me. We all face things sometimes we dont understand? But God is faithful, we have 7 children here on earth and 2 in heaven and its not been easy but God always provides what we need. Just trust him and he will direct your paths. Weeping endureth for a night but HIS joy comes in the morning....be blessed.

Applause, applause, applause!!!!!!!! Praise to God Almighty!!!!
Unfortunately, when our 4th (yes only 4) came along I could not believe the number of comments I got about being pregnant-AGAIN?! But when I announced at our homeschool group we got a round of applause. It almost made me cry. So there is mine to you APPLAUSE.
I told my aunt who had 8 children about the amazing comments I had received and she told me about when they told my grandparents about their 8th. Grandpa said, "There may not always be enough of everything else to go around but there's always enough love." and my addition is that Love (God) always takes care of the rest of the necessities. Again--APPLAUSE, CLAP, CLAP,CLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAP!CLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAPCLAP, CLAP CLAP, CLAP CLAP, CLAP CLAP, CLAP

CLAP,
Praise God for the newest blessing growing in your womb! I too face the same questions asked by others. I have learned to smile sweetly and say "God has it all figured out and I fully trust HIM". Lifting you in prayer dear sister in Christ.

What an honest heart-cry. What a blessing to have a Lord to turn to.
You are a normal, wonderful, super-fantastic mom who is just... well, normal. We all struggle with things, and many of us face all the silly questions and wonder what and why and how at different times. We all struggle with our own sin and still trust God to help us as we do our best to train them in Him.
Do not despair, but rather rejoice. God and His plans are a great mystery in these times, but we do not need to know any more than He is. He is, and we can rest in that provision.
May God keep and provide and give you rest.
Love, J
and a woman seeking the Lord's Will (daily), a wife (striving to keep the romance alive), a "Smamma" (Step- mother) of one and a homeschooling mom of seven (I was never going to have children), who starts every day over (after messing SOME thing up the day before), knowing God's grace is overflowing (just like my laundry), and so thankful He's blessed me more than I'll ever deserve.
