• Monday, November 12, 2007 - Day Twelve... the Gift of Life
Lord of Heaven and Earth, Today I want to bask in Your goodness and praise You for the gift of life... something so many of us take for granted. Lord, there was a time when people considered children a gift from You and acknowledged the fact that You alone were the Giver of Life and they gave You complete credit for conception. Today, we live in a world convinced that in order to be "responsible", we should take control over how many children we have and when we should have them. Convenience has overtaken our calling, and selflessness has succumbed to selfishness. Lord, I have taken this pregnancy for granted and I'm sorry. I allowed the world's views to seep into my convictions. I heard people question, "If you're so bad off financially, why are you having another child?" And Lord, I began to doubt Your provision. I began to question Your blessing, and put this pregnancy... this life... this gift... second to earthly provisions. I forgot about those who petition You for months... weeks... and years, to fill their empty womb, or the mothers weeping at the death of their newborn or agonizing over a child gone from within the womb. I'm ashamed Lord for taking such a gift for granted. My heart aches for those who cry out to You for more children and I ask Lord, for You to bring them comfort and peace. Lord, I pray for their wombs to be filled.
Lord, I also thank You for those who have spared a life, giving their child up for adoption. Thank You for those who have been able to adopt. I pray for those in the process of adopting, whatever stage they may be in, and I pray for You to find homes for the children in need. I also pray for any women contemplating abortion, Lord. I pray that You would work in their hearts and that they would choose life, and heal the hearts of the women who have had an abortion Lord, that they may find true forgiveness and love in You.
Heavenly Father, each one of my children have been a blessing from You. Not a one "planned" but orchestrated by Your hand. I give You all the glory and praise for each one, and continue to keep the promise I made years ago of taking as many children as You decided to give us. Thank You Lord. May the world see, that in order to raise an army for You... people must be willing to make the soldiers.
and a woman seeking the Lord's Will (daily), a wife (striv- ing to keep the romance alive), a "Smamma" (Step- mother) of one and a homeschooling mom of seven (I was never going to have child- ren), who starts every day over (after messing SOME thing up the day before), knowing God's grace is overflowing (just like my laundry), and so thankful He's blessed me more than I'll ever deserve.
