• Thursday, November 15, 2007 - Day Fifteen... Homeschooling

Father of Grace and Patience,
Today I thank You for the ability to homeschool.   There are so many days I take this for granted Lord, and I'm sorry.  Along with never planning on being a mother, I CERTAINLY never thought I'd be a "homeschooler".  It's the hardest thing I've ever done, and I've struggled countless times through it over the years.  There have been so many times I didn't think I could go on... it would be so much easier to just send them to public school... but then I turn to You and You breathe reassurance of another moment... another hour... another day... and somehow I find strength when I am weak in mind, body, and soul.

I'm so thankful that I can have my children at home with me, teaching them about the God that loves them, forgives them, and seeks them every day.  I know You have plans for each one... each little life I now lead, You have a purpose for.  I know that as much as I love them... You love them even more.  So each day I turn their lives, and their hearts, over to You to fashion in the way that only You can know is best for what lies ahead of them.  Help me to prepare them and get them ready to have a desire to serve You that burns in a way that it can't be quenched.  Let them know the most important things are the things not of this world, but of the things for You and Your kingdom.

Thank You for teaching me through them Lord.  Thank You for reminding me that homeschooling is about so much more than math and reading... as they will stand before You one day, and it won't be their test scores that You evaluate, but their hearts.  Help me to prepare their hearts Lord, so that on the day they stand in Your presence, You are able to say "well done..."

Thank You for such an awesome responsibility.  I know I will never have a more "important" job than what I'm doing right now.  No matter what ministry You call us into, my first ministry is to my husband and children.  In teaching and training them, I am preparing a future.  Please help me to remember that, and not give into the worldly views of "success".   I know success is more than what I can measure here, and that You have a greater plan.

Thank You for this ability to serve You through my children.  Help me to keep my focus through the difficult days of math and phonics, character training, burnt suppers, character training, spilled milk, character training, potty training, character training, science experiments, and character training... help me to have patience in all circumstances... and help me to show love and grace to my children like You've shown to me.  Thank You Lord for this calling on my life.  I praise You for Your goodness to me and stretching me to be more and more each day.

I'M "JUST" A MOM...
and a woman seeking the Lord's Will (daily), a wife (striving to keep the romance alive), a "Smamma" (Step- mother) of one and a homeschooling mom of seven (I was never going to have children), who starts every day over (after messing SOME thing up the day before), knowing God's grace is overflowing (just like my laundry), and so thankful He's blessed me more than I'll ever deserve.
