• Friday, March 14, 2008 - 9 days late... prayers appreciated!

Well, I had my doctor appointment this morning.  Unfortunately, I was still dilated to a "3" but my cervix was extremely thin so the contractions have been making a difference.  He said the head was "right there" and he stretched me to a "4".  The baby's heartbeat was strong, but I'm measuring "40 weeks" and so he's concerned about me going too long.  Because the baby is healthy and ready, and the amount of contractions I've been having, he would like to break my water and "just do it".  He understands my concerns about not being patient, and he said he would pray about it, but he's concerned just the same if we wait too long as well.

So, as of right now what we're praying for is for the contractions to start on their own.  He said that when I have a contraction, to come in and we'd break my water.  I have a few concerns with that because I don't want to use any pitossin or anything to keep contractions going (although any time my water's been broken, the contractions get strong).  I have another appointment for Monday, but he said he'd rather not wait until then as long as I've been having contractions the way I have been anyway and I'm already at a "4".  He knows my concerns and reasons for being patient, but he also has his reasons for not waiting and so Mike and I are praying and seeing what will happen.  Mike seems to be sure that we won't have to make any decisions because I'll start having contractions anyway.

Your prayers are appreciated and I will keep you posted!

UPDATE AS OF 3:48pm:  I've been gone since I posted last... contractions have gotten stronger... I'm on my way in... Mike will update you with the news!

Just wanted you to know I'm praying for you Amy. I had something similar with my 5th-starting,stopping, not going anywhere. :-( She did arrive without any interventions. When labor finally started "for real", I wanted to go for a walk to be sure the contractions continued but my dh was reluctant b/c we had a 45 minute drive to the hospital in rush hour traffic. Turned out that he was right-I delivered within an hour of arrival. :-)
So, I will be praying that not only will the contractions stay, but that everything will move along quickly and you will have an easy delivery.
In Him,
Michelle

May God make this a beautiful memory for all of you to praise HIM for in the future. When our #4 came I had already had 3 c-sections, so we were scheduled for a 4th. About a week before we went in someone said "Are you sure that is the day God wants that baby to be born?" Man, that sure made me apprehensive! I was so bothered that we were messing with God's time table...and yet me going into labor was not good for me or baby. Then God intervened. 4 hours before we were to arrive at the hospital my water broke and darling baby came on the scheduled day. Both God's and the Dr.'s schedule. I will pray for you to see and know His hand with this precious cargo as well.

and waiting to hear. Had a wonderful visit with Mike this morning when I was only expecting to leave a message and say I was thinking of you. Since my time of 4:38 has obviously passed (both in Central and Mountain time) I'm thinking you will definitely have this one tonight say around 8:28. In case you don't get the time meaning, you live on 8th and the 2 of you will now have 8 wonderful blessings.

Love, Nan

Hooray! It's 12:25 am (March 15) and I am assuming you have had that baby by now! Looking forward to hearing the news. Keeping you in prayer.

Kate

P.S. At least you headed for the hospital about the time of my last guess!
