• Tuesday, September 2, 2008 - A Mother's TREK - Marsha

CHRISTIAN EDWARD DREWS, 3 years old, went to be with Jesus August 26, 2008. He is survived by his parents, David and Marsha Drews; brothers, Austin Allan Drews and Noah David Drews, and many loving family members and friends.

I think it's the first time ever that I've sat at my computer and just stared at the screen unable to make my fingers move.  I've struggled with words before... my heart has contradicted my head many times... but not like this time...  I've written, deleted, written again, and completely erased dozens of times as words seem inadequate at a time such as this...

I know there are a million things going on in the world... I've tried to read other people's blogs... I've tried to post about my camping trip to family camp... but when I try to do anything, it all seems so meaningless when I think of my dear friend, Marsha and the pain that she can't avoid...

I don't know what to say, or what I could possibly do for this family experiencing such a deep loss in such a horrible way.  I've prayed, and even yelled at God... I've searched for some way to ease their pain.  It seemed as though setting a day aside for Marsha (what I've done in the past for "A Mother's TREK") just wouldn't be enough, and so I'm asking anyone interested in lifting Marsha and their family in prayer every day at a promised time until the 25th (marking one month since "Dozer" went to be with Jesus) to email me (amy@dandelionseeds.com) with the time you'll be praying (please include your blog link if you have one as well, and put COVERING THE DREWS FAMILY in the subject line so it will be easier for me to sort everyone's requests with my other emails.  Please email me so I can compile all of the addresses for Marsha to receive as well, as I know she will want them). Remember to consider the time zone.  You can click here to convert your time zone to GMT-6 (central standard) zone to find out what time you'll be praying in Marsha's zone.  When you email me, I will confirm your time and post it here so we can fill all the time slots to be sure they are completely covered by the 25th(If you're praying throughout the day and would rather not sign up for a specific time, please email me anyway and I will include you on the list so they can still see how many are lifting them in prayer.)

If you're unfamiliar with "A Mother's T.R.E.K." then please take a moment to read more about it and share with others who may want to join in this effort to cover the family of Christian "Dozer" Drews for 24 hours.   If you have already, please watch the video of Christian as well.

I've talked with my kids about Christian and the brothers he's left behind.  Life has gotten more fragile around my home, as I'm once again reminded that we're not promised a certain time frame here on earth.  Hold your children a little longer today... kiss your spouse passionately... call someone to tell them how much they mean to you... and don't take a second for granted.

I have been, and will continue to pray for the Drews family. I'm reluctant to sign up for a specific time slot because my days are so random, but please add my name to the list of those lifting Marsha in prayer.

Blessings,
Kym

We will (as we have) pay for the Drews family everyday until it marks the month you have set. We haven't stopped praying but this will keep me from slipping at all. I too think of her and the family so much. My post on my blog says what I've been feeling and has my note for Marsha! http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/SchoolinRhome/582864/
I don't think I'll set a time for this prayer but I will certainly pray at least once throughout the day for them. I often pray for them MANY times a day but at different times during our busy schedule, I am blessed with 5 children and homeschool and just feel I know Marsha as she has been a blogger friend since I began here about a year ago!
Thanks for doing this to carry them to Jesus... on bended knee!

I pray for Marsha and her dear family every day and will continue to do so for months to come. I have my prayer time every morning at 6:00 am (I'm in GMT zone) and then I continue to pray for her as the Lord brings her to my mind several times a day.
I can't imagine her pain, and am so thankful she knows the God of all comfort who does know her pain, loves her and her family so very much, and will carry her through this.
love and prayers for you too,
Jaynee

I have experienced the same emotions for a week too.
We have all taken this in very deeply, and I am glad we are seeing life differently too, but I don't like the price.
I have asked God why and repeatedly said it is not right, but we have to trust him always. It is so hard, but so easy to do. I am sure you understand.

Thanks for doing this. I will wait on a time slot and take what is needed.
Love and prayers constantly for our precious friends.
HUGS~

I just watched the video. How sweet (and sad) it was. I just can't fathom what it must feel like to loose a child. It is great that she knows the Lord and knows that Christian is in heaven. I will be praying and I do so when I go to bed...please put me down for the 10:30 pm (Central Time zone). My blog is here on Homeshoolblogger.com under WatkinsWay.

Yes, I will continue praying for Marsha and her family as I have been, throughout the days as the Spirit leads me.
Thank you for doing this, and for leaving me a comment letting me know about it over on my blog.
I watched the video of little Christian, wow... brought tears this morning, such a precious little guy. He is in a better place though, as the song says, such comfort... but it's still heartbreaking.
blessings,
Beth

What a great idea. I pray for the Drews daily during different times, but if you would please put me down for 1:30am, I would really appreciate it! That way I have a set time where I can devote a whole prayer time to just them!

Prayers and Blessings,

Thanks for the comment on my blog inviting me to come and participate here! I didn't come over at first b/c my first thought was, "I am not very disciplined about praying at a certain time of day, and I'm afraid that if I make a commitment to do so, I'll blow it." I still feel that way, but I'm glad I finally came over to see what it is all about. You can add me to the list of people who pray for the Drews every day, many times a day. That is something I do not even have to try to remember to do; I think about them SO often SO many times a day and pray for them whenever I do. I drink daily from a coffee mug that I won from Marsha earlier this year, and *if* I should ever need a reminder, that will do it.

Thank you so much for putting this together. Even though I am not participating in a "time slot", I think it is a wonderful thing to do.

hi,from NM.I will pray for the Drews family as the Lord brings them to mind. My husband and I just lost our eighth baby at birth on May 7.The praying and constant encouragement is what this family needs. We can and do empathize with this family.I read your post about how angry you were and I will pray for you as well. The first thing I thought of after losing our baby son was that God is good all of the time and He never lets anything happen to me that isn't ultimately for my good and my growth in Him. I am grieving with your friend Marsha and am thankful for the immeasurable grace that God gives to us after giving one of our children back to Him. Love in Christ. I'm new to your blog, but was drawn to tears reading about little Christian (Dozer). I can't imagine the pain of losing one of my precious little boys, much less having to explain it to his siblings and remain strong to comfort them. I will absolutely be lifting the Drew family in my prayers throughout the month, as the Lord puts them on my heart. My heart goes out to the Drew family, and thank you for doing this for them. I enjoy your awesome site, and I look forward to discovering Marsha's, too.

Amy... I would be honored to commit to prayer for Marsha and her family at 5:00am. The Lord continually puts Marsha on my heart, I carry her around with me everywhere and I lift her up in prayer daily but I really love the idea of just soaking her and her family in prayer at a commited time everyday.

Thank you...

JOYfully in Him,
Kelli
