MY THOUGHTS on Stormie OMartian's "The Power of a Praying Wife"
Chapter 12: HIS PROTECTION

Regardless of what your husband does or where ever he may go (even if he stays at home), your husband needs prayer for his protection.
You never know when it might be needed in the battlefield.  And if something happens, you'll have the comfort of knowing you've invited God's presence and power into the midst of it.  -Stormie OMartian (p.108)
When Mike and I got married, we owned a pawn shop, and even though we were in a small town (3,000 people) there were potential dangers that came with that job.  Mike carried a handgun at all times and there were times when an angry customer would threaten him.  I realized the depth of what we were doing when he called home one day to let me know I shouldn't worry (that's ALWAYS a sign a wife is gonna worry by the way men).  Earlier that day a man had left very upset and threatened Mike to "see him later".  Since Mike was closing the shop up for the evening, he wanted me to know that he would be home in 15 minutes "just in case" (another reason to worry).  I got off the phone and immediately began praying... I knew there was nothing else I could do, but there was a peace knowing that God was there with him.

After we sold the pawn shop, Mike went into decorative concrete with his brother and not only did they work with horrible chemicals, but were on many construction sites. and worked long hours so they were always exhausted.  Again, I found myself praying for his protection not only at work, but in all the road miles as well.

Another career change, and I now find myself praying for Mike's protection more than ever before, as he has now put himself on the "front line" of the enemy who will stop at nothing to seek and destroy those who want to expand God's Kingdom.  It's "funny" to think back to how I first prayed for Mike's protection from people's anger and guns... and now I pray for his protection from the enemy on the battlefield.

I want to clarify what I mean by "battlefield" as well... for those of you who have a husband that isn't in ministry as a "career", that does NOT mean your hubby is off the hook (tee hee...). My husband is not on the battlefield because he is going to plant a church... my husband is on the battlefield because he is a Christ follower and that means he is "sold out" on Jesus and willing to do what it takes to bring satan down...   He wasn't a threat to the enemy when we owned the pawn shop because (although we believed in God) we were living a worldly life.  If you're husband is a Christ follower, regardless of his "job"... he too, is on the battlefield and needs your prayers for protection.  When you pray FOR him, you join in fighting on the battlefield WITH him. If your husband is not a Christ follower, or even a believer in God or Jesus, than you still need to pray for his protection because right now as you pray for your husband every day through "The Power of a Praying Wife, YOU are on the battlefield fighting FOR HIM!  Do NOT let the enemy win by keeping your husband's life that belongs to Christ!

MY PRAYER:
Dear Heavenly Father,  Please protect my husband from accidents, diseases, dangers, or evil influences (p.109).  Keep him safe Lord from what we can see, as well as what we can't.  I pray for all the plans of the enemy to destroy his life to be cut off before any damage is done.  Guide his steps Lord and make his path clear, regardless of any obstacles, so he can continue on the road You've set before him.  I pray for him to find complete peace and assurance in You so he will NOT be shaken but remain steadfast in You.  Protect him as he seeks to grow Your Kingdom Lord which will require him to go into the enemy's territory.  You are bigger God.  May he feel Your mighty presence as he goes into the places to set the captives free from the grip of the enemy.
In Jesus' name, Amen.

This is probably my favorite post so far. I could not agree with you more. As I see my husband growing in his love for the Lord and committing more and more of his life to Him, I know for a fact that the enemy is not happy about that. And as you said, regardless of the line of work my husband is in, I need to be alert and prayerful for him at all times for his protection. Thanks for the great reminders and powerful, encouraging words. I pray that every woman that reads them will take them very seriously.
Have a great weekend!

My husband loves Christ with all of his heart and works in an area of ministry saving unborn lives. Everyday I pray for his protection from the unseen evil surrounding this ministry right now as well as the seen. Thank you for this posting that reminds me of this importance.
