• Saturday, June 13, 2009 - COUNTDOWN... 80 days

Looking back on when I started my blog, a LOT of things have changed... it's kind of funny when I read my first post and I how felt back then that God was preparing me for a change... a move.  I could never have imagined it would turn out like it has!  Funny how some of my first posts were about "a countdown"... and here I am... almost 4 years later... with another countdown.

We will be moving to Detroit Lakes, Minnesota on September 1st where we will take another step toward God's call on our life to plant a church!  I'm can't promise how great I'll be about keeping you updated on this whole process, but I'll try... I've never moved, so after 16 years and 7 children... THIS SHOULD BE INTERESTING (and I'm sure a lot of other more colorful adjectives as well... tee hee...)

We have found a little house (it's smaller than the one we're currently living in) that we can rent until May 31st (2010).  We will need to have something after that, but know that God has that all worked out.  In all of the inquiries that I sent out, this is the ONLY house that was able (and willing) to have our large family (AND our dog) so we are so grateful (makes the decision of what house to move into real easy as well... tee hee...)!

We found the listing online.  It's on the lake (although we will be there for the colder months), has 3 bedrooms (which are smaller than we currently have, so we'll be "cozy").  Here are some pictures...

Kitchen (notice the MAIN FLOOR laundry??!!)

We're excited to FINALLY have direction as to where to go, as well as a PLACE to live!  I'm spending a lot of time packing, and we're still doing school (since baby will be due in December and we have quite the busy year ahead of us) so things are pretty chaotic in our home right now.  I hope to get a monthly newsletter out so anyone who is interested can keep updated on things with the church plant progress, know our specific prayer requests, as well information for those who have requested where to send money for the church plant.
So, with all that said... what are you today that you NEVER would have thought you'd be doing 4 years ago?

Your house is cute! What am I doing I never thought I'd be doing? We are moving as well...not out of town...but, to a smaller house...move in date is Sept 4. And we've only seen the inside for a quick walk through...once. What else? Helping to parent a 2yo when my youngest is 14 and my two oldest have moved out. Makes life....challenging.

Thats easy -- working in a church office.

When Mark called me in for a meeting one day a little over three years ago - I thought he was going to ask me to be a part of the new search committee that was going to start looking for a Children's Pastor. When he told me that he had felt it put strongly on his heart to put me in the Office Manager position, I laughed and told him I hoped that he had other people in mind. He told me he did not.

At that time, I was managing our business office for our company and keeping up with our two High School age sons. Al was away on a snowmoblie trip in Michigan so I had no way to discuss this with him.

Mark asked me to spend some time praying about this decision and I promised him I would, again thinking I was just buying some time but my answer was no.

Over the next few days all my morning devotions seemed to be telling me a different story. I found myself in Matthew 31.... God was telling me that worrying shows a lack of faith and understanding in Him.... I was reminded that God would give me all that I needed to be able to accomplish the tasks He has laid before me...

... and so my heart turned. When Al returned home and I told him what Mark had asked of me he said that we would pray together and agreed that if it was Gods will we would work it out. I went into the position letting Mark know that if it ever became too much for me to handle both offices, I would have to drop the church office and go back to helping Al all the time.

It has been over three years and a half years and now I look back in awe. I never seen myself working in a church office.... but God did. The relationships I have strengthened as well as have started due to that are numerous.

Wow Amy! You have waited for this for a looooong time. How exciting to have an actual date for it! Whoo Hoo!!!!

The house looks cute. And main floor laundry will be a big plus heavily preggie! :o) A friend of mine lived for two years with ten kids in a three bedroom house - so I KNOW you can do it! What an adventure. Just tell the kids it is an extended vacation, hehehehe!

I'M "JUST" A MOM...
and a woman seeking the Lord's Will (daily), a wife (striving to keep the romance alive), a "Smamma" (Step- mother) of one and a homeschooling mom of seven (I was never going to have children), who starts every day over (after messing SOME thing up the day before), knowing God's grace is overflowing (just like my laundry), and so thankful He's blessed me more than I'll ever deserve.
