MY THOUGHTS on Stormie OMartian's "The Power of a Praying Wife"
Chapter 14: HIS INTEGRITY

When I read this chapter, I was reminded of not only how thankful I was for my husband, but how important my job as a mom is to instill integrity to my children as well.
Integrity is not what you appear to be when all eyes are on you.  It's who you are when non on e is looking.  It's a level of morality below which you never fall, no matter what's happening around yo.  It's a high standard of honesty, truthfulness, decency, and honor that in never breached.  Its doing for others the way you would want them to do for you.   -Stormie OMartian (p.117)

I have been blessed with a man of integrity, but not because I was looking for one.  Honestly, I didn't even know what it was or why it was important, and while Mike was a man with morals when I met him, true integrity didn't enter the picture until he gave his life to Christ... and I do mean, GAVE it.  There was just something that was different after that... a new accountability to the ONE who was always there... not that He hadn't been before but the REALIZATION for Mike changed things... he didn't do things just because it was the right thing anymore, but because he believed he was an ambassor of Christ and he wanted to live a life that was different from the way the world lived.

Living a life that's not "normal" from the world's views isn't easy.  A man with integrity is different, and others may challenge his views or actions that are different from theirs.  I agree 100% when Stormie tells us that our prayers for our husband's integrity support him as he faces opposition and helps him to stand strong through it (p.118).

For some of you women, it's the cry of your heart to have a husband with integrity, and this chapter was especially difficult.  You long to have a husband that does the right thing all the time... you may thinking "half the time would even be a great start..."  It's never "too late".  You must not give up hope, and you must not quit praying!

Integrity happens in the heart.  Therefore, being a man of integrity is something your husband must choose to do on his own.  But you can prayerfully help him fight the enemy that seeks to snare him, blind him, and keep him from making that decision.  Even when he makes the right choice, there will be a negative reaction to it in the realm of evil.  Your prayers can help shield him for anything that causes him to doubt and waver, and give him strength to do what's right --- even when no one's looking.  -Stormie OMartian (p.118)

Integrity is so important... so, while praying for your husband, why not do a little "self-evaluation" of yourself as well?  While integrity shows when no one else is watching... our hearts are always obvious to the Lord... what does He see in you?

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that You would make my husband a man of integrity in the truest sense.  Now a days, integrity is becoming as foreign as tape cassettes, and the world treats it as though it's expendable.  Lord, give my husband strength to always do the right thing... no matter what.  Make him strong in You, knowing that You are the only one who  matters, and not the opinions of the world.  I also ask that You would make me a woman of integrity Lord, and help me to stand strong in this marriage, doing the right thing in Your eyes always.  In Jesus' name, Amen.

Just got an idea as I was reading through today's post. My son just got married in December. He needs these prayers, too. I did mention about the praying 30 days to his new wife. I don't know if she signed up. But it occurs to me that *I* can pray for him in all these areas! He needs it. The topic of integrity really struck close to my heart. His father (my hubby) IS a man of integrity, and for that I am so thankful. He is a wonderful example to our sons. But I think I will pray this for my newly married son as well. The enemy wants to ensnare these young marrieds and destroy their testimony before they even get started. Lord help me to be a praying Mom.

How wonderful... sharing the strength of how your hubby improved in his integrity once he came to know Jesus! I can't wait to have my husband join us, walking closer to God. Thanks for sharing ~Hugs, HL

I'M "JUST" A MOM...
and a woman seeking the Lord's Will (daily), a wife (striving to keep the romance alive), a "Smamma" (Step- mother) of one and a homeschooling mom of seven (I was never going to have children), who starts every day over (after messing SOME thing up the day before), knowing God's grace is overflowing (just like my laundry), and so thankful He's blessed me more than I'll ever deserve.
