After such a fabulous response to S.H.M.I.L.Y. for 30 days of prayer (where wives prayed for their husband each day for a month) we just HAD to do S.H.M.I.L.Y. for 30 days of prayer for parents!

S.H.M.I.L.Y. simply means, "See How Much I Love You" (read "The SHMILY Story" to learn more about that.)  While SHMILY Time was created to put the spark back into your marriage and focuses on that, we are taking a "time out" to cover our children in prayer and focus on the gift being a parent truly is because showing our children how much we love them can come in ways they may not see...

Showing our child(ren) how much we love them is so important, and it's never too late.  It doesn't matter if you're children are babies, elementary age, teens, have left home, or are beginning to have a family of their own... they can always use prayer!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:  Depending on the stage of life your kids are in, you will need "The Power of a Praying Parent" (you can use the older version as well) OR the new book, "The Power of Praying for Your Adult Children" by Stormie OMartian.  (If you would like to give a book or need to get a book, please email me at amy@dandelionseeds.com and be sure to put "SHMILY parent" in the subject.)

You may also want to have a journal for each child that you're praying for to write specific things to the child (maybe not every day to every one, but as the Lord puts different topics on your heart).

WHAT YOU'LL DO: Read a chapter a day, which includes a prayer. (Even if you've read this book before, you can just do the prayers and skip the reading... the point is for you to PRAY on the specific topics!) 

FYI: I will be making daily posts on my blog (and facebook too). You don't have to discuss anything but can share if you'd like. You can also leave links to your blog post for each day (that pertains to the topic). THE POINT: To get parents (THIS INCLUDES DADS) praying for their children... that's it! Doesn't matter what the background, denomination, or current state your life is in... Let's get those kids covered in prayer and stand back and expect great things to happen to them, our relationship with them, and even ourselves as we petition God on their behalf!

SPECIAL NOTE:  You can be a parent, step-parent, or foster parent to join!  It doesn't matter how old your children are either!  If you're a grandparent, give a copy of the book to your child to do while you pray for your adult child!

This event is to simply make sure that your children are prayed for every day for a month... regardless of how YOU feel.  Whether your child is driving you nuts, hurting your feelings, has no relationship with the Lord, or in trouble, this is a great time to cover your child in prayer!

Covering your children in prayer is so important, and regardless of where your relationship with them is right now, this event is to simply make sure that your child is being prayed for every day for a month.  Whether your child is driving you nuts, hurting your feelings, has no relationship with the Lord, is in trouble, has left home & has a great relationship with you... this is a great time to cover your child in prayer!  (And might I add, that if things are really bad, that this is a great time to do this!)  It doesn't matter what age your child is... or if you have one child or 20... join us for this amazing event as we pray to the One who blessed us when He made us a parent!
