Things have been chaotic in my house lately, as we get ready to move after almost 17 years in one place (and 7 children later)... but once again, as I scurry around getting things done and feeling overwhelmed by it all, my heart aches at the thought of another woman's life and a story very different from mine unfolding, as her
"to do list" includes "patience to endure pain" and "to finish (die) well".
My list seems so insignificant and trivial in the scheme of the importance and frailty of life, and I find myself stopping in the midst of the chaos to spend another moment... hug a little longer... laugh a little louder...
Please join with me in "A Mother's TREK" for Rachel to honor her life on Sunday, June 28th . If you're on facebook, please sign up for the event and invite others to join so we can rally together and pray for Rachel, and her family as well. Please click the following link to see the event:
A Mother's TREK - Rachel Barkey on facebook
There are many ways you can do this... but the point is to spend some time doing Totally Random Events for Kids. Do something out of the ordinary to show your children how much they mean... talk to them about how much you love them... share with them how much God loves them and is always there for them, even during the difficult times. For those who are old enough, share with them the story of this special woman, Rachel who is going to meet Jesus soon but will leave behind her husband, Neil, and two children. Pray for all of them... and thank God for the time you have together...
You can't "do this wrong"... it's simply about spending time with your loved ones. Sometimes it takes someone else to remind us what we take for granted...
We aren't promised how much time we will have on this earth... make the most of it every moment!
