Thursday, June 25, 2009 - Challenge #7 - "Actions + Words = Love"
So, "just for fun" I will be posting some SHMILY challenges throughout the month to help you to show your husband how much you love him... they won't be every day and you can do them at any time.
CHALLENGE #7
It's said that "actions speak louder than words"... but it's really powerful when actions AND words go together. We recently read about "His Talk" and the significance of words.
This week, think about what you can do and say that will speak to your husband's heart. It might be to take him out to eat (arrange a babysitter) and "steal" him away. You could either talk to him or share your love for him through a card or writing something to him. Buy him a gift he's been wanting with a note/card attached. Does he need some clothing? Maybe you could buy him something and then thank him for always taking care of your family... providing something for him. Whatever you do, make sure that you do something to SHOW him you love him, but also TELL him you love him.
I had to share with you a wonderful story about Konrad who is over in Iraq and has been away from his wife, Tami and their 4 girls, since February 10th. He found a unique way to speak to his wife's heart though many miles separate them...
YOUR BEAUTY
I traveled thousands of miles to seek
a beauty that matches yours
I've been to fifteen different states
and a couple different shores
I've walked the desert sands to find
the desert rose in bloom
I've talked with locals here and there
And they've said it's still too soon
I kept on searching far and wide
But thought it was vain
My eyes were tired, my back was sore
And feet were both in pain
Then I came across this one old man
Who sat me down to talk
He said there's beauty to be found right here
In this dirty pile of rock
I looked at him and he looked back
And gave me a crooked smile
I bought that pile of rock from him
And it sat for quite a while
I looked at it each and every day
Trying to figure out what he meant
There's no beauty to be found here, I said
I think that old man's bent
I prayed to God every day and night
To show me how to see
The beauty that old man talked about
In that rock in front of me
Then it came to me one lonely night
As I lie there in my bed
I grabbed that rock and started making
The picture in my head
For that old man was very right
There's beauty here to find
I just had to trust and have faith in God
And let Him lead my mind
But as I completed my masterpiece
I quickly came to see
That the beauty wasn't in that rock at all
It was something God had given to me

It's not too late to join us for the month of June as we pray for our husbands! You can check out more about it by clicking the following link: S.H.M.I.L.Y. for 30 days of prayer...
and a woman seeking the Lord's Will (daily), a wife (striving to keep the romance alive), a "Smamma" (Step- mother) of one and a homeschooling mom of seven (I was never going to have children), who starts every day over (after messing SOME thing up the day before), knowing God's grace is overflowing (just like my laundry), and so thankful He's blessed me more than I'll ever deserve.
