So, "just for fun" I will be posting some SHMILY challenges throughout the month to help you to show your husband how much you love him... they won't be every day and you can do them at any time.
CHALLENGE #6
As mentioned in chapter 16, His Priorities, sometimes us putting our husbands at the top of OUR priority list, will help our husband get his priorities in line as well. Don't take the attitude, "Well, HE'S not willing to help me, so I'm not going to help him!" Sometimes what is needed for the other to budge is one person making the move.
You both have busy lives, however, when two people get so caught up in what they're doing, it becomes too easy to begin to live separate lives... and that road leads to destruction. This week focus on your husband and what you can do to show him you are thinking of him. And pray for God to help you to do it without expecting anything in return.
Ask your husband every morning how you can pray for him that day. If your schedules make that difficult, than set a time aside each week to ask him what you can pray for in the upcoming week that he would like to be covered in prayer.
Ask how his day was...
Ask if there's anything you can do to help him (at whatever task he's doing)...
Ask if there's anything he wants done today (and then make sure you do it)...
It's not too late to join us for the month of June as we pray for our husbands! You can check out more about it by clicking the following link: S.H.M.I.L.Y. for 30 days of prayer...
This Challenge fits nicely with the Marriage class that my husband and I are attending at our church. As you mentioned sometimes it takes one person to budge, otherwise you are in a "crazy cycle" that just keeps spinning out of control. Because one doesn't do, the other doesn't do. Stop the madness, step off the "crazy cycle" and see the change. It has been amazing the change in my marriage this month. We are talking more, and being more considerate of each other, not taking each other for granted so much. We have been married for 21yrs, and are still going strong. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this Amy.
and a woman seeking the Lord's Will (daily), a wife (striving to keep the romance alive), a "Smamma" (Step- mother) of one and a homeschooling mom of seven (I was never going to have children), who starts every day over (after messing SOME thing up the day before), knowing God's grace is overflowing (just like my laundry), and so thankful He's blessed me more than I'll ever deserve.
