•Monday, March 13, 2006 - Foot Washing

Posted by
Wow! How timely to read this blog post this morning . . . ds(7) just quoted his Bible Quiz verse Matthew 26:13 for today to me . . .

"Verily I say unto, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her." Matthew 26:13

About a year ago, my precious mother, asked to "wash my feet". It was a humbling experience for me . . . as she has always been the most wonderful example for me of a servant spirit. From her example, I was compelled to wash her feet also! Of course it was a spiritual time of refreshing for both of us.

As my small children watched . . . I was amazed as ds(then6) offered to wash dd's (then 3) feet! At the time, the two of them were often rivaling amongst themselves. There has been an amazing transformation between them and they have looked for ways to serve each other in love.

More recently, this past Opening Deer Hunting weekend, while the men were away hunting . . . and just before the busy Thanksgiving/Christmas season. My mother let me treat her to a home spa facial treatment. Again, the children enjoyed watching the tender ministring treatments . . . and insisted on joining in. It was so fun to watch them rub lotion into each others hands and feet! They made me lay down and I had children working on each of my limbs! I'll have to go look for the pictures!

So . . . don't stop with DH . . . what about a Mother's TREK today . . . to our children and dear mothers and sisters and friends . . .

Thank you Paula & Dandalion Seeds for inspiring me to minister to my own DH in such a special way. He's only a soap and water man! But some cologne would be nice!

Hi Amy -

I was just reading your post today about TREK and I am gonna post my comment about it later. But I have yet to read this and it just touch my heart and soul. I love my husband to death. He is the best thing that ever happened to me. Missey's passing indeed had make me think about how precious every time I spend with my family everyday. Thank you for sharing with us this idea, I don't know if I can talk while I do it either but I would definitely try. I plan to do this tonight.

You are a blessing!
