• Tuesday, September 2, 2008 - A Mother's TREK - Marsha

CHRISTIAN EDWARD DREWS, 3 years old, went to be with Jesus August 26, 2008. He is survived by his parents, David and Marsha Drews; brothers, Austin Allan Drews and Noah David Drews, and many loving family members and friends.

I think it's the first time ever that I've sat at my computer and just stared at the screen unable to make my fingers move.  I've struggled with words before... my heart has contradicted my head many times... but not like this time...  I've written, deleted, written again, and completely erased dozens of times as words seem inadequate at a time such as this...

I know there are a million things going on in the world... I've tried to read other people's blogs... I've tried to post about my camping trip to family camp... but when I try to do anything, it all seems so meaningless when I think of my dear friend, Marsha and the pain that she can't avoid...

I don't know what to say, or what I could possibly do for this family experiencing such a deep loss in such a horrible way.  I've prayed, and even yelled at God... I've searched for some way to ease their pain.  It seemed as though setting a day aside for Marsha (what I've done in the past for "A Mother's TREK") just wouldn't be enough, and so I'm asking anyone interested in lifting Marsha and their family in prayer every day at a promised time until the 25th (marking one month since "Dozer" went to be with Jesus) to email me (amy@dandelionseeds.com) with the time you'll be praying (please include your blog link if you have one as well, and put COVERING THE DREWS FAMILY in the subject line so it will be easier for me to sort everyone's requests with my other emails.  Please email me so I can compile all of the addresses for Marsha to receive as well, as I know she will want them). Remember to consider the time zone.  You can click here to convert your time zone to GMT-6 (central standard) zone to find out what time you'll be praying in Marsha's zone.  When you email me, I will confirm your time and post it here so we can fill all the time slots to be sure they are completely covered by the 25th(If you're praying throughout the day and would rather not sign up for a specific time, please email me anyway and I will include you on the list so they can still see how many are lifting them in prayer.)

If you're unfamiliar with "A Mother's T.R.E.K." then please take a moment to read more about it and share with others who may want to join in this effort to cover the family of Christian "Dozer" Drews for 24 hours.   If you have already, please watch the video of Christian as well.

I've talked with my kids about Christian and the brothers he's left behind.  Life has gotten more fragile around my home, as I'm once again reminded that we're not promised a certain time frame here on earth.  Hold your children a little longer today... kiss your spouse passionately... call someone to tell them how much they mean to you... and don't take a second for granted.

• Saturday, August 30, 2008 - Please pray for the Drews family...

Please pray for fellow blogger, Marsha who lost her 3 year old son tragically.  Their funeral is today... I just spent the last 45 minutes writing a post (I have only an hour of internet access) and I hit something and lost it all... I just had to make sure others knew about my friend's lost and would lift her in prayer.

• Sunday, August 24, 2008 - See you soon...

Mike is loading bags as I speak... uh, write... and the kids are ready for church where we will leave from to be in the car for 5 hours (I'm told).  Mike and I went to a church function last night and the one of the things I took out of there was...
WHAT YOU LOOK FOR, YOU WILL SEE...
and so, I've made a choice.

I WILL look for:
  • time with my kids
  • time with my hubby
  • rest
  • patience
  • sunsets
  • sunrises (some of them)
  • the stars
  • reading time
  • journal time
  • time with the Lord in His surroundings
  • good times with new friends
  • meeting new people
  • coffee with my beloved
  • reading time with my kids
  • taking pictures (I'll share when I get back!)
I WILL NOT look for:
  • pessimism
  • bears
  • snakes
  • mice
  • any other animal that might invade my personal space
  • electricity
And so, with that improved attitude... I say "good-bye for now" to my curling iron, hair dryer and hair taffy (yes, there is such a thing and I DO use it) and embark on a new adventure and feel as though I should walk out the door to a covered wagon.

I'll be journaling, so be sure to stop back and hear about "What I did on MY summer vacation".

Family Camp... HERE WE COME!

I'M "JUST" A MOM...
and a woman seeking the Lord's Will (daily), a wife (striving to keep the romance alive), a "Smamma" (Step- mother) of one and a homeschooling mom of seven (I was never going to have children), who starts every day over (after messing SOME thing up the day before), knowing God's grace is overflowing (just like my laundry), and so thankful He's blessed me more than I'll ever deserve.
