Tuesday, March 6, 2007 - Clutter Contest (Edited)
There's a clutter contest over on the Company Porch to help promote Kathryn Porter's book, Too Much Stuff. (Edited: You can still enter the contest. The contest has moved to High Desert Hi-Jinks. Contest ends March 13)
To participate in the contest, here are the rules:
- Go and find the part of your home, car, garage, storage shed, mother-in-laws attic that you want to de-clutter. Take a picture of it and put it on your blog.
- In your blog entry tell what the picture is for and tell us how that area became so cluttered, how you plan to de-clutter it and what you will do with the space after it is cleaned up. Be sure to link back to the contest.
- Leave a comment HERE giving the link to your blog entry.
Who here has a junk drawer? A closet that is a catchall? Well, I have a room! We have a small room in our house that has become our junk room. And just recently I have slowly but surely been working on cleaning it OUT! My plans for decluttering are to start at the door and work my way in. I've already cleaned out one box of things and got rid of some discarded clothes of my fathers.
I want to be able to use the bookshelves and maybe even the desk that is in there (yes there's a desk in there). I would also like to make it easier for my Dad to get in there with his hanging closet. And, shh, don't tell him, thin out his wardrobe!
The project was so large that I took a before picture last week so that I can see a before and after for my own satisfaction. I'm almost too embarrassed to post this picture. The room is so bad that it take three photos to the full impact.

is either move or redeorate. We did this when we moved 21/2 years ago which we did pretty good at & now the improvements of this house. I was never one for having a lot of stuff around so this was fairly easy. Alot of the kids projects I would take pictures of so that they would have memories but not the stuff laying around. Good luck with the room.

WOW, you are brave posting those pictures. Lol. Sometimes I wish I *had* a room to throw everything into! Alas, I don't, so I have to be semi/organized. I have plenty of junk drawers, though! = )

Boy, would my DH love it if I entered that contest! ;-)
Unfortunately, I need to de-clutter almost my whole house! ( I cannot wait for warmer weather so we can have a giant YARD sale!)
Actually I am working on my dining room closest this week...It's a huge project, as that is where things tend to get thrown just for the sake of 'hiding' them when company comes.
Best wishes to you on your efforts!

I can understand a junk room, I grew up with one. That's what my parents called it too (The Junk Room).Sadly they still have a junk room....I don't have a junk room, but a junk garage right now.
Blessings,
Debbie

I have made three trips to the Rescue Mission with 'stuff' that we had around the house. We are about halfway done! We are doing the schoolroom last....I WON'T post pictures of the before! We are participating in a homeschool booksale in May...I think we'll need a van to get everything there!
