Monday, April 9, 2007 - Whispering
I may just have to whisper for the rest of his growing years. I have absolutely NO voice today. I have no idea where it has gone to. If I do get any sound to come out right now I sound like 10 boys going through puberty.
But why would I whisper for the rest of Cameron's childhood? Whispering is a strange phenomenon. It is causing him to listen carefully to every word that I do speak. And it is also causing him to whisper in response. It is actually quite comical. I keep whispering, "You don't have to whisper just because I am."
"Yes ma'am" he whispers. I think he just can't help himself.
I wonder how long this will last.
In other news, we are taking part of our spring break for the next few days. We don't have any school scheduled until Thursday.

Oh how I wish my children would/could whisper!
My son WON'T and my daughter CAN'T! ( She literally can't.... she has tried numerous times, and she just can't 'get the hang of it...weird, huh?) I've never met anyone that couldn't whisper before.
I pray that your voice comes back soon!
Blessings,
Michelle

It's a joy to spell. LOL I've discovered the mysterious effect of whispering too. Many times I've caught myself whispering in response to someone else who has lost their voice, and yes my kids respond the same way. Trouble is --- once I have my voice back, I go right back to raising it again. <eyeroll> My bad. LOL
My voice is pretty sketchy today too. Maybe it will pay off on the home front anyway. ;-D
Blessings and hope you feel better,
Kym

Hi, that is so cute! I can't imagine my little one whispering...well maybe just when he tells me a secret..but all day? I don't see that ever happening! Anyways, hope you feel better. Did you gargle with warm salt water yet? When I used to loose my voice at school, I always had that cup of warm salt water to gargle with. Would do it at recess so I could say the lesson and then get the kids going on their project or lesson, then go gargle again so I could tell them what to do next. It worked! and I would survive the day! Take care and get well quick!

Isn't that a funny! I worked as activities coordinator for an inner city afterschool program that had about 40 six to ten year olds in it. They were a noisy bunch. One week I lost my voice and about fell over when the kids started hushing eachother to hear what I had to say. Why couldn't it always be that easy!

I whisper when I'm really angry. The boys ALWAYS listen closely and look straight at me (eyes all large and full of fear...). I think I scare myself when I whisper sometimes! :-)
Enjoy your break and your time of quiet!
Love,
Marsha

Hi Danielle. I was reading your post at Babymakers about the Ressurection...
Matthew 28:1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week...
(well, part of the problem with this is you don't understand that a Sabbath ends on a Saturday evening.. )
Mark 16:2 And very early in the morning the first day of the week... (again, this could be construed as Saturday night)
But even more important than whether it was Sunday or Saturday - you are talking about a gregorian calendar day that didn't exist in Yeshua's time, and you're celebrating his Ressurection based on a Gregorian Calendar counting, instead of counting based on the Feast. Yeshua was raised on the Feast of First Fruits.. because He is The First Fruit. So, this year, the Feast of First Fruits was on Wednesday (tuesday at sundown) (if you count it one way) or Sunday (saturday at sundown) if you count it another way. Julie at http://acceptancewithjoy-trailjournal.blogspot.com/ and Lisa at http://followingtheancientpaths.wordpress.com/ both count it starting from the weekly sabbath (so from Sunday) but I'm counting it from the High Sabbath - the Sabbath of the Feast of Unleaven Bread.. so my Ressurection day would have been Tuesday night.
Now how's that for confusing.. lol

Whenever I just want to scream at my kids (you know, THOSE moments), I whisper. It truly is amazing. It calms me, and they immediately listen. Whispering is such an interesting thing.

I know how that is! I tend to get laryngitis almost every spring. One year, when my older two were learning to read, I wrote things down instead of whispering. It was great practice for them! I hope you are better soon.
