I hope that you all have something special planned for tomorrow. Darren and I decided that it was best for me not to try to go to the Ambassador's house for the big festivities this evening. Seeing as it's after 11pm and he's still not home, I'm very glad that we chose this route. I did meet up with our dear friends (and Scottish neighbors) to go to the beach just down from the Residence to enjoy the fireworks. It was a lovely evening and all our children relished the sand and sea. The fireworks finally began around 9:30 and were, as always, a sight to see. We raced to our cars as soon as the show was over (not wanting to get tangled up with the other 2000 people wanting to leave from the main party) and made for our part of the neighborhood. We then proceeded to take all the kids out for ice cream at a local little market in the square by our houses. It was then 10 pm. No one can say we don't live on the wild side every once in a while;) At one point, Gus (our Scottish buddy) commented in his marvelous brogue, "Now what exactly is it we're celebrating here? Surely not Brittian's one defeat?!" We both chuckled and I replied that I was certain that was not what we were celebrating! Not exactly:) Anyway, friends, have a wonderful time with your friends and families. We certainly will from this turbulant but lovely little piece of land on the other side of the ocean. Lovingly, Maggie
