Dining Out
This is the time of year where dinner parties and receptions abound.  We attended a lovely farewell dinner for dear friends at the British Ambassador's home the other night.  Here's our menu.  (Just thought you might be looking for some ideas for that special meal you've been wanting to serve up.)

Aubergine timbale topped with
smoked salmon and caviar

Duck breast in a cherry sauce
Sauteed asparagus and shallots
served on a potato mash

Almond & pear tart
Vanilla ice cream

Dalton, Sauvignon Blanc 2005
Barka,  Pinotage 2004

By the way, the Aubergine timbale resembled a tin of fancy feast over turned on my little plate, loaded with  strips of salmon and topped with a hearty serving of bright orange caviar surrounding a salmon rosette on top.  I was thankful that my mama taught me to eat everything on my plate....even and especially when it's not my preferred meal.  The duck, however, was wonderful.  I wonder if you can find breast of duck in the US and just how much I'd pay for it...hmmmm...something to explore next year when it's time to move again.

Bon Appitite!

Maggie

I'm glad you tried everything, though not sure I could. Well, I would try the dessert, I always try the dessert. :)
