I'm encouraged

I've just been on deedee's site to see I've got an award - which is great considering how bad I've been at blogging lately :-) You know though it has really lifted my spirit! I wasn't even feeling that down but I feel uplifted - isn't it great what a bit of encouragement can do, so thank you.

I was at a ladies breakfast this weekend and that was really encouraging too, all about how the media makes us feel dissatisfied with ourselves and yet we are daughters of the King - loved and beautiful from the inside out!! There is a verse (well a couple) that have always spoken to me in Psalms

 Ps 45:10-11
0 Listen, O daughter ,
Consider and incline your ear;
Forget your own people also, and your father's house;
11 So the King will greatly desire your beauty;
Because He is your Lord, worship Him.
NKJV
Our God desires our beauty - sometimes we feel we want some romance, sometimes our husbands just don't fulfil that need and yet do you know, do you realise that your God loves you in every way - He desires to be close to you, His love for you is greater and better than any man on this earth could give you. But there is a price - we have to forget the past, put God before everyone else, which means making time for Him, reading His word, talking with Him, worshipping Him, not just slotting Him in on a Sunday we have to put Him in a place of priority in our lives to really experience that love He has for us.

Anyway, not sure where that came from but..... on a more academic note my eldest daughter is 5 and we still don't really do any official schooling - I do believe better late than early and she's not particularly advanced and interested academically but  I could do with some advice - should I invest in a maths program or just keep using stuff on the interenet? And how do  I know she's learning what she should be? Any advice or good websites to look at, books to read would be gratefully recieved thank you - and remember You're Beautiful!!!!

Glad the award put a smile on your face! :-) As for Maths programs...... seeing as I'm the new Math U See rep for the UK you can guess what I'd recommend! LOL! Seriously though I did put Monkey who is five through the MUS Primer this year because it is light and fun and a great introduction to maths concepts. If you want to see more about it before deciding what to do, why don't you come to the MUS workshop on the 20th of this month with Deb and Catherine? Then you can see it and watch the demo live and ask questions. Plus it would be great to meet you, or were you at the TOS event in Leic? I have trouble remembering who I met there!

Hi Sarah
Great post. This is an area of Christian life that needs more attention. Our church is having a conference weekend in October On the Fathers Love. I know it will be a massive blessing and will help sort out alot of our beliefs about who God is as our Father. In Gods eyes we are outstandingly beautiful, and that should be all that matters.

My 5 year old boy who I think is a very similar age to your oldest has had much less formal education so far than his sisters. I would have been having kittens if he had been my oldest but being third in line in the education order I have chilled out alot. From all I have read and explored the best thing for any child is to be read to alot and I'm sure you already do that. My girls were read to alot and they are avid readers now. They do stuff better when they are ready. I would concentrate on the stuff your little girl really likes to do work wise and then just read. I'm upping the pace with Isaac in September and I'm going to get him to continue with his reading book over the summer but so far I've been pretty relaxed about how much he has done.

Hope that it of some use. Are you going to the workshop at Deedee's? I'm going, it would be great to meet you there. How's the pregnancy going?

Love Deb

What you wrote was truly beautiful and from the heart I could tell.
Theres a ladies evening my church has been running called 'Beloved'. I did go to the first couple of them but with all the extra organisation required to actually get me there I gave up.I think I have been procrastinating a bit and really could make it to the group with a bit of effort! I can always say I'm too tired but if the Lord wants me there I guess I can trust Him with that,so thanks for the encouragement.I will be accountable and let you know all about it!

Thinking about your 5 year old I wouldn't push her if you don't think she is that interested yet.I found doing lots of puzzles and little ones word games and counting games good,with lots of repetition and enjoy loads of stories together as well as making up her own,you could write them if she is not ready and get her to trace over with different colours and decorate/illustrate! Whatever writing she does it is still writing,we all have to start somewhere! I think it is hard not to expect too much,I'm a bit of a perfectionist in a funny kind of a way,Thank the Lord I am changing ;o)
My little girl is nearly 5 (Sept) she loves the little animals site on bbc schools,very funny and has a bit of evereything!

God bless you and yours,much love Sianne.
