Happy Birthday, Benjamin!
On Sunday, November 19, my baby turned two years old!  It is so hard to believe that two years have passed since I first held that little baby in my arms.  He's grown so much and has developed a personality all his own!  Benjamin is definitely very different from his brother.  Braden has always been content to sit and do a puzzle, read a book, or watch a video.  Benjamin is always on the go!  I wonder sometimes how I'm going to keep up with him with a new baby in the house.
We celebrated Benjamin's birthday with a party on Saturday.  Since Benny loves anything with wheels (cars, trucks, planes, trains, etc.) , we decided to have a "Beep Beep" party.  I had an idea a few weeks ago about using old crayons and candy molds to make shaped crayons for party favors.  I found a candy mold with construction vehicles and plunged right in.  I think they turned out rather cute!

I also make all of my boys' birthday cakes.  This year my idea was to create a road on the cake and use toy cars to complete the scene.  Benjamin got 3 of the Cars toys early for his birthday from his grandma.  I used these and a few Lego props.

Several friends came over for cake and ice cream.  Because we had celebrated earlier in the month with my family in TN, Benjamin had had a little practice opening gifts.  However, we didn't count on any wrapped gifts (we usually just do bags).  He wasn't quite sure how to go about opening wrapping paper.  But, once he got it, he really enjoyed ripping that paper!

We had also practiced blowing out candles, but that practice didn't take too well.  We saved that corner of the cake for family only, since Benjamin doesn't just blow air.  He spits!

Benjamin's big present from us this year was a tricycle.  His legs are a little too short still, but that certainly didn't curb his enthusiasm for the bicycle.  He immediately wanted to ride all over the living room!

Benjamin's birthday was fun, but tiring.  However, on Monday, he woke up coughing and by noon was running a 103 degree temp.  A trip to the doctor confirmed that Benjamin had a bad case of croup.  So we have been spending the first few days of his third year dosing out medicine, running the humidifier, and staying in jammies all day (well Benjamin has!).  Benny has been one very sick little boy.  Normally we can't get him to sleep anywhere but in his bed and it usually takes him an hour to fall asleep there.  Yesterday, I put on Cars for the boys to watch while I did some cleaning.  I came in a little later to find this:

My usually very active little boy, passed out on the floor.  Later, at lunch time, he seemed very tired, so I asked him if he was ready for a nap.  The usual response to this is a very emphatic, "NO!" and running in the opposite direction.  Yesterday, he quietly picked up his sippy cup, said night-night to Bubby and toddled off down the hall to his room.  He appears to be getting better today.  His cough sounds better and he is definitely more active!  Please pray for continued healing of our little boy!  And celebrate with us his two wonderful years so far!

I'm so sorry we missed the "BEEP BEEP" party. You just never know who is going to have the worse of the germ pool, though. I'm glad that Benjamin is better. I love the look on Bejamin's face when he's trying to figure out how to get to the center of that package. Priceless.

Thanks for stopping by to say HI this morning. I hope you got all your Christmas shopping done. I did get started after I got off work.

Happy belated birthday to your litte man!! The crayons came out adorable!!

And I love the cake! I make all of Mackenzie's cake too. My mom always made mine and it's what I remember most about all of my birthdays. I'm not as talented as my mom but Mackenzie doesn't seem to mind. LOL
