Mom time and other random thoughts

Posted in Family

It's been a pretty harrowing week around here.  We've had rain, eye appointments, rain, doctor appointments and did I mention the rain?  So besides rushing around all over the place, we've been cooped up inside because if it wasn't raining, our yard was still a lake and not very kid-friendly!  On top of all of that, Brady has been putting in extra hours at work and doing side jobs.  So needless to say, I was a little burnt out!  But my wonderful husband blessed me with an evening of "Mom Time" last night!  He and our friend Ted took Braden, Benjamin and Ted's daughter Sarah out for ice cream and then to Barnes and Noble to play.  Ted's wife, Anna, stayed here with me and we scrapbooked for over 2 HOURS!!!  WooHoo!  Of course, Ethan had to stay here in order to be fed, but he was pretty easy.  I got four single-page lay-outs done for our Disney Album from our trip from over a year ago.  Anna was also working on a Disney album so it was lots of fun.  Here are Anna and I hard at work.  (The last pic was taken after the guys returned!)

On another note, Ethan turned two months old on Wednesday!  I can't believe he's already that old!  He had his well-check yesterday and weighed in at 12 lbs 9 oz!  He also got 4 shots!  Poor baby.  At two months old, though, he already has high aspirations of being a fireman!

And here's a shot that Braden took of Ethan yesterday!  He's pretty stinkin' cute, if I must say so!

Speaking of Braden, we got the rest of our curriculum this week from Rainbow Resource and CDB.  One of the things I bought for Braden was a kid's devotional Bible.  I've been amazed at how excited he is about a Bible.  He's been picking different stories every day and asking me where he can find them and then reading them.  Here he is reading Jonah before bed the other night.

And I can't leave Benjamin out of this post.  He's been a real handful lately because he's been extraordinarily clumsy.  He has two scrapes on his knees from parking lot tumbles, a cut on the back of his head from flipping his chair over during lunch and a bruise on his face from a fall while chasing Braden around the house!  I guess this is what I get for having a house full of boys!  However, I have come up with some creative ways to channel all of Benjamin's energy.  Here he is being my "kitchen helper" and using a child-size rolling pin to annhialate (I mean crush) some crackers for a a recipe for dinner.

So there you have it, our lives over the past few days!  Enjoy!
