God is the ultimate puzzler

I had a very interesting conversation with Benjamin (almost 3) today. He was eating a Cottage Double (cottage cheese mixed with fruit) for breakfast when the following conversation took place: Benjamin: Is this pineapple? Me: No, it's peach. Benjamin: Oh! I like peaches. I eat them at home and at church. Me: Did Miss Lisa give you peaches at Cubbies? Benjamin: Uh-huh! And raspberries. I like raspberries, too. Slight pause. Benjamin: I saw a peaches of the tree. Me: You saw a peach tree? Benjamin: Yup! Me: When did you see a peach tree? Benjamin: Sunday. Me (wondering where there is a peach tree): Who showed you a peach tree? Benjamin: God. Me: God showed you a peach tree on Sunday?!? Benjamin: Uh-huh! Me (not knowing where else to take this conversation): Benny, do you know who made the peach tree? Benjamin: God made it. Me: That's right! Who made Benjamin? Benjamin: God did! Me: That's right, Benny! God made you! Benjamin: Yup! He has a big Benjamin puzzle. Me (after a slight pause to process this): Benjamin, are you saying God has a puzzle of you and that's how he made you? Benjamin: Yup! (Big Grin!) Oh, the minds of toddlers (or preschoolers as Braden informs me that Benny will be when he turns three)! He is really into puzzles of late and in his mind, God sat down and put all the pieces together to make a Benjamin puzzle! I had to hug him so tight and smile for this wonderful bit of toddler logic! Oh, and I did Google what people who put together puzzles are called and it is puzzlers. |
