Scrapbooking

One of the things I have been fascinated with during the few months of blogging is all of you out there who are into scrapbooking.

I had never really thought much about it and it doesn't appear to be something you hear alot about here in England but it is something that really appeals to me.

I would love to hear from any of you who want to share their hobby and pass on some tips.

I am also wanting to get into cake decorating and have just bought some books on how to do it. I have never been very artistic but I am of the opinion that you must be able to learn and I am hoping that when I have some free time there must be something to do other than fall asleep on the sofa!!!!!

Mar. 23, 2006 - scrapbooking

Posted by DawesAcadamy

Hi, i love scrapbooking - though I haven't really done any official scrap books but I got all the materials about 2 Christmases ago - just waiting for the time to actually do them. I've also got a computer programme "scrapbook factory" which is really good - I have used that one as we have lots of digital photos and it is good to add to them! Have fun and if you want any tips or anything let me know - I subscribed to a scrapbooking magazine for 6 months and I know of some good craft places! Sarah

Oh girl, don't get me started about scrapbooking. I'm an addict! If there was a group specifically for scrapaholics, I'd have to go. I'd probably scrap the 12 step program if there were one. hee hee Seriously though, you'll get overwhelmed unless you start off slowly. Buy one book (not a real expensive Creative Memories one - not necessary - sorry all you CMers out there - I just can't see spending an arm and a leg for them!) and go from there. I prefer the 12x12 books since you could fit more in them. You'll need the basics: pretty papers, acid free markers, stickers, scissors/paper cutter and either scrapping tape or what I prefer, mono adhesive permanent sticky stuff. Don't start with your baby photos way back, start current - you'll enjoy it more. Once you catch up with the latest photos you have, then back track. It's so much fun but be careful, you may have to attend that scrapaholic meeting with me if you're not careful.

Hi, thanks for comment - it was raining here - then we had a lovely day today until tonight when the rain started again! Have you got the shop "The Works" near you at all - it's a cheap bookshop, just that yesterday I was in there and they had a starting scrapbooking kit for about a tenner - it looked quite good, if you've got one it would be worth a look. I'll have a look at my stuff and let you know where else I go for materials I think internet is about cheapest, though we do have a few good local craft shops.
Hope weather gets better for mothers day!
Blessings - Sarah

Mar. 27, 2006 - Tv documentary on bibical principles

Posted by Anonymous

Hello there Debbie,

I was hoping you could help me. I saw your blog re:the Home School Magazine and the backlash there seems to have been against the planned UK tour by Gina and Paul Suarez as a result of their so called links to the Pearls. I am making a TV documentary for Channel 5 about the growing phenomenon of biblical parenting in the UK and wondered if I might be able to speak to you.

I am looking to find a UK family who parent in this way and may feel that they are being victimised by those who don't really understand the principles behind their parenting. I think many Christian families are concerned about how they are going to be perceived and I wondered whether you might be willing to speak to me about why you feel many have had to go 'underground' with their practises because of a lack of understanding when it comes to things like physical discipline.

We have no agenda/angle and want to make a thought provoking film that will open up the debate on parenting methods in the 21st century. At this stage I am hoping to just talk to UK based families about their parenting choices. Do you think you might be able to help me either by talking about your own family or suggesting someone you know who would be willing to talk?

I have been in touch with Gina Suarez's assistant and he said they would help us but that was before all this stuff happened and they have been quite slow on the uptake, presumably becuase they are so busy firefighting! Would you be able to give me a call or email me your number so we could have a chat about my project in more detail?

I am on a tight deadline and would be very grateful of any help.

Many thanks and very much hope to hear from you soon.

Mar. 27, 2006 - Off topic, but needs to be said...

Posted by DandelionSeeds

I am sending out a "mass apology" to everyone I told about "The Clean Heart, Clean Home Challenge". I have received some comments in regard to leaving the button on people's blogs and I feel the best way to make sure there aren't others who are offended, is to apologize to those I sent the notice to.

I feel just horrible that some thought I was "advertising" in some way when my intention was to share with other homeschoolers what I was offering as encouragement and a way for us to join together.

If you are one who was upset by my post, please feel free to delete it and email me or leave a comment on my page and I will personally apologize. To those who have joined in The Challenge, I'm so looking forward to what the Lord has in store for us and hope we will all be able to bless our families and grow in the Lord through it! Thank you most importantly for seeing my heart. I never meant to disregard anyone's post when I left the comment about the Challenge, and want you all to know that anything you ever have to say to me, whether on topic or not, is more than welcome on my blog. I will also be making a new category on my blog that will list those of you who don't mind getting urgent prayer requests or information from time to time. I hope this way I will be able to avoid upsetting anyone similarly in the future.

Thanks for allowing me to comment on your blog. I hope you will accept my apology (and not be upset that I'm "off topic" from your post, but I have many people to get to still tonight).

In Him,
Amy Verlennich
