I'm in good company

We survived

Hello and good morning. I am making the most of still being in holiday mode and indulging in my blog again. No doubt that come Monday there will be hardly any time to spend on myself. This weekend I have to knuckle down to some preparation for next weeks lessons.

Our trip to the hairdresser went extremely well. Isaac was such a good boy very grown up and proud to be nearly four. Jacob now is the owner of a smart new hair cut and he looks like a proper little boy. He also had his first pair of shoes yesterday.

It was a day of moving on for me. It is always hard when the baby of the family starts to grow up especially when there probably wont be any more ( I've had 4 c/sections). It is hard not to feel a little bereft but as my husband points out to me we can enjoy watching them grow up and being fascinated by them at any age has to be the key. The other advantage of them not being quite so little is that you also venture out alot more, confident in the knowledge that they will stay close by and not break anything. I had to go into the local music shop as well yesterday to buy some new piano music and felt brave enough to not put Jacob in his pushchair. Can you tell that I am trying to talk myself out of baby mode!!!!!

Glad you survived Deb!

I think it's great that our littlest guys are finally walking! FREEDOM! I can now actually spend time outside-- lots of time and he just enjoys roaming around picking up sticks and leaves. The only problem is keeping him out of the berries that drop from one of the trees.

As far as starting school up again, I usually do things that require little of my supervision while the baby is still awake. Things like handwriting, spelling on the whiteboard, and history. Subjects like math and science that require more one-on-one supervision or focus are left for when the baby naps. This can be in the morning or the afternoon.

If you're up to it, another option would be to move little Jacob's bedtime up so he'll wake up earlier in the morning. Then he'll be ready for that nap by midmorning. Pro's and con's to that one, huh? ;-)

Love,
Marsha

You're right, 7am with no morning nap is TONS better than 4:30am!!! Perhaps you can shift your school schedule to start a bit later in the morning and then continue after lunch with little Jacob naps? You can spend the early morning doing chores and reading. :-)

I saw your comment on Marsha's blog and knew right away that you were from the UK. My family and I moved here just over four months ago (my husband is doing his M.Litt at the University of St. Andrews). I am not used to being a mum yet, to be honest. And by that, I mean as opposed to "mom." ;-) My oldest son calls me mummy now. I think I will be getting a "Happy Mum's Day" from him this year. (smile)

This is the "Dena" that's been emailing you regarding the upcoming trip to your country. So nice to be able to stop by and "see" you! Glad to have you here!

Glad your trip went well, too. I found a woman that can cut my guys' hair in five minutes flat! LOVE her! lol (Of course, I usually just do it myself, though it doesn't look so nice)
