I'm in good company
Jan. 30, 2006

I can hardly believe it is the end of January already. Where does the time go? You can see how easy it is to wish your life away especially at this cold time of year. Summer holidays are just around the corner it seems and we haven't even got to Easter yet.

One of the things I have never been very good at is taking one day at a time. I am always in a rush and as my Mum is forever telling me, crossing bridges before I have got to them. My piano teacher is always telling me to slow my music down so I can fit in the hard bits.

I am learning though to enjoy each day and make the most of every little thing that happens especially with the Kids. It is so easy to miss things in the rush to move on to the next exciting occurance. God has promised us all we need for TODAY and although I am sure He doesn't mind us looking forward to things, he wants us to gain strength and joy and peace from him for this day.

How cool that you're reading the same book we are! I just adore the Little House books and my children are captivated as I read them. That's a good thing!! We are doing the entier Prairie Primer - a unit study on the series and it's wonderful. Check it out if you get a chance.

Thanks for the encouraging words regarding our home construction (it should be 'destruction' instead though. ha ha). It's coming along slowly, yet surely. I just brought my daughter to the doctor's today - she has an ear infection. Probably due to the bad air quality and the cold that is constantly blowing in the open windows as the men are working. Poor thing is miserable today!

I liked what you wrote on Jan. 30th about slowing down. I'm the same way you are. I rush about and am constantly needing to remind myself to stop doing it. My son's speech problem is partly due to hurring about and not slowing himself down. Hmm, I wonder where he picked that up?!? = )

Well, I appreciate your comments. Please feel free to put my name on your list, I put you on mine as well. I'll check your site now and then.

Anyhow, thanks again. It's nice to 'meet' you. Have a wonderful week.

It was lovely to welcome you to my blog. It's great to "meet" up with other UK homeschooling Christians. Have you heard of the UK Christian H/S list http://groups.yahoo.com/group/deut6v7? I will be praying for you with your hubby away as I know how you feel. Keep in touch!

Feb. 3, 2006 - Hi

Oooh - someone else in England! It's slightly warmer here today - the ice has melted, LOL!
I had a look through your profile and found we have some things in common - I've been a Christian since I was eight and I'm having piano lessons too. Not for me the problem of playing too fast - I need to speed up. I'm playing somewhere around Grade 4 standard - slowly! I find since starting HE last year I keep forgetting to practise!
I have three children but the oldest and youngest - both boys - are in school.
We have quite a lively local HE group on the Internet but as Yorkshire is so spread out I only actually meet the people in the same town. There are four families here that I know of. Your groups sounds good - apart from freezing!
Do drop in again :-)

So true. Thank you for the reminder to slow down and live deliberately. We are not promised tomorrow; all we have is today.

....is so very true! Well said!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting on the "raised hands" post...it has gotten so ridiculous, hasn't it?
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry when I read your home improvement post, we've been doing a major home renovation on a home we were supposed to move into last Nov. We are finally moving in next weekend....I think, I hope! ;)

Feb. 4, 2006 - We had chips today too :-)

Posted by flapjacks

In case that sems like a random comment, you wrote in my blog that you'd had fish & chips!
I had a quick look at Jane's blog - where did she find that wonderful title? I'm assuming she wrote the book?
We have a big day tomorrow as it's our older son's confirmation but hopefully next week will be more relaxed after that and I'll have time to explore some blogs a bit more.
Oh, and I saw your mention of Plum Creek just after I'd picked it off the shelf - what a coincidence! Then I stayed up late reading it and feeling glad we don't get blizzards! Her descriptions are magical.
