Today was one of those embarrasing days when you wish the floor would swallow you up.
Our church is hosting a Bible Exhibition over the next few days and the topic is the Life Of Jesus. The local primary school will send its classes to different sessions and will get some "Religious Education". It is really good fun and they also do some food tasting made up of different foods a bit like waht they would have eaten in Bible times.
We have been to similar exhibitions before but this year as it is at our church we get the added bonus (not) of acting in it. This happens to be one of my worse nightmares but I am also not very good at saying no!!!!!!
I had to try on my costume this morning after church ( bear in mind it is the day before it starts) and as I struggled to get it over my head I realised that as I am far from a size 12 ( under statement) I was going to have to give up. How embarrassing to have to tell the Pastor that due to my slightly larger than average size!!!!!???? the lovely outfit just wasn't going to fit.
Its one of those times when I am glad I can laugh at myself but Oh joy I have now less than 24 hours to come up with a suitable outfit depicting the character of the Bride of Cana. (thank goodness I haven't got to find a wedding dress though.)

Oh Deb! It does sound like fun though...sorta...I'm a horrible actress but will be glad to cook all the meals, clean up and watch a bzillion kids in the nursery.
Y'know, it's not that you may not be a size 12 anymore...but rather that several parts of you have shifted! At least that's MY problem. I've learned to not look at the scale but how various parts have migrated, flattened or expanded to unexpected places!!! Oh and waistbands DO shrink!
You are brilliant and I know you'll figure something out, my friend.
Love,
Marsha

hehehe...at least you survived! You can teach those girls who are growing up way too fast that if they want a better wedding dress than a sheet with a hole cut in it, they better slow down!
I'm sure you still looked beautiful, Deb. And just think how each session will be easier and easier!
Thanks for the update, my friend.
Love,
Marsha

12, what's a size 12? Haven't seen those numbers in a little while...say...before kids...before I turned 40 etc. I can totally relate! It reminds me of the old I Love Lucy episode where Lucy insists on dancing with Ricky in his show if she loses weight to get into the size 12 costume (although I think those girls were a size 4 - there's no way a size 12 looks THAT good!) Lucy dieted for a week to lose 10 lbs. Gotta love the ambition, but it didn't get her very far, she ended up in the hospital.
Hope you find something suitable, and especially comfortable, to wear. Keep smiling and know that your beauty comes from the inside out!
P.S. Remember, there was wine at that wedding in Cana - no one should remember what you look like anyhow if they act it out exactly like in the Bible. hee hee (just teasing).

I'm agog to know - did you make it?! What did you make? I am sure you made a perfect Bride of Christ - well done you for conquering your fears.

Did you find something suitable? I've no idea what they wore - but at this time of year I hope it was something nice and warm!
And someone told me - the best way to say 'no' is just to say... 'no'. Don't give reasons, because people will argue against reasons and it will be harder to hold your ground.
