I am so lovin' my wonderful husband having five days off in a row! :)
Friday, August 29, 2008~Day 11:
Today was a day out of the ordinary...yet, no 2 days are alike...enjoying the flexibility of homeschooling! :)
This morning, Daddy and I again were blessed to go work out together. And, again, my preschool-lovin' daughter did Nathan's Little Hands to Heaven preschool lesson w/ him. Little Hands to Heaven~ Unit 2-Day 5 - The Earth and the Flood. They did the fingerplay, Noah's Big Boat. Then, they read the Bible story from The New Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes - Read p. 32 "Proud Men Build the Tower of Babel" and looked at the picture on p. 33 of the tower of babel and men loading bricks to carry to build more on the tower of babel. He answered 3 discussion questions. For a Math Activity, he use Legos to build a tower. They practiced counting w/ the Legos until the tower tumbled. For a Letter Activity, Breanna helped Nathan practice tracing the letter B on a piece of paper. For a Bible Activity, they acted w/ his stuffed animals about playing w/ each other and helping each other. There was no corresponding music w/ this lesson.
In late afternoon, after running several errands, Daddy, Mommy, Breanna, and Nathan were on the road to go on a Field Trip about 1 1/2 hrs. away. We ended up simply going to Hobby Lobby in this city 1 1/2 hrs. away. We had a scare there. Nathan was let out of the cart w/ his sister. They went and looked at various items, then they came to the Art section where Daddy and I were talking w/ a salesclerk. Breanna thought Nathan was staying w/ us, and we were busy w/ this salesclerk. We were finished talking w/ the salesclerk & the next thing you know, Breanna comes back to Michael & I & says, where is Nathan? .... the search is on...prayer...panic...more prayer.... then, we spot him & he thinks it's a game. Eventually Sister locates him and he's safe back in Daddy's arms, then confined to the cart. Calm my heart down now. Oh! We did have a praise at Hobby Lobby~our art supplies had 30% off! :)
In the evening, we went to the 2nd anticipated family activity in this city 1 1/2 hrs. away; it was a free Big Daddy Weave concert at a park next to a large waterpark. We enjoyed watching ducks...they crossed our paths even...and watched them at the pond located near this park. There were free kid's activities...the kid's got their faces painted like cat's & got washable tattoos put on. We set up our lawn chairs...ate grilled hotdogs & hamburgers...and enjoyed Big Daddy Weave in concert! A wonderful family day! :)
Saturday, August 30, 2008~Day 12:
For the third morning in a row, Daddy and I again were blessed to go work out together. :)
This afternoon, Breanna completed her schoolwork: Bible— Elsie’s Life Lessons Walking In the Fruit of the Spirit~ Chapter 1-Walking in Love- Lesson 4 – Loving Others: Read p. 25 (Began at: Go back to the list you wrote on the previous page about your typical day.) – p.26 (Stopped after reading: If so, write it here.)

Elsie’s Life Lessons Walking In the Fruit of the Spirit~ Chapter 1-Walking in Love- Lesson 5 – Loving Our Enemies: Read p. 26 (Began at: Loving Our Enemies) – p. 27 (Stopped after reading: “But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”)This is what she is to do~Meditate & memorize Scripture. Answer study questions. Ponder them. Pray about her own walk w/ Christ in relation to love. Copywork—Copywork for Girl’s~ Lesson 11 & 12. She is getting no math done when she is not w/ Jacqui. What can I do about this?? History— The Chimney Sweep’s Ransom (John Wesley)~ Chapter 5 – Notebooked all of the following: Ideas for Discussion and Writing,
This evening, Nathan and I did his Language Lessons for Little Ones-- Lesson 11 - Poetry Appreciation. He listened to me read the poem, ""Fuzzy Wuzzy, Creepy Crawly" by Lillian Schulz. He got a chuckle out of it. :) Lesson 12 - For Narration. He had to listen to me read the poem, "Fuzzy Wuzzy, Creep Crawly" again, then answer the following questions: Have you ever seen a caterpillar? His answer: No, I just saw a butterfly on our screen when it was summer. What colors of butterflies have you seen? He said: "He had yellow fins." Have you ever seen a caterpillar's cocoon? He said, "No." He said a caterpillar into a butterfly. :)
It is so fun listening to him. :)
It was late tonight when we had our Bible and prayer together. Using our excellent book, 365 Days of Celebration & Praise - Daily Devotions and Activities for Homeschooling Families~ We learned today that it is "National Water Quality Month" and then we read in God's Holy Word in Exodus 17:1-7 about how God performed many miracles for the Israelite people using Moses and still they continued to complain. We answered four discussion questions. A verse we pondered was James 1:17a~ "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father." Our prayer focus today is on Salvation. I prayed for a friend of mine and Breanna prayed for a friend of hers. :) Although it was late, what a wonderful way to end the day together! :)
