Oct. 16, 2009 - Errand day...

Posted in This and That

Today is errand day.  I get to take Miss Eden to the pediatrician for a well check and shots.  I also get to go to Costco, woohoo!  I'm only kidding.  Costco is only fun if you have a whole bunch of money to buy the fun "extras" that they have there, lol.  I don't have bunches of money, there will be no extras.  But going with just me and the baby will be fun.  I also get to make a quick run into a craft store.  Well I hope it's a quick run, I just love craft stores.  I hope to stop at the thrift store if Eden will allow.  She isn't real big on shopping, lol.  And finally I get to mail off a package to a special Momys friend.

I'm sure there are other things that I'm forgetting that I need to do.  It'ss a good thing that I write most stuff down.

From here until Christmas, errand days will be quieter for me.  The children don't come in case I buy a Christmas gift for someone.  I wish I could buy everything all at once, wrap it and be done with it.  But my life doesn't work this way.  I always hope that it will for the next year though.  I don't give up, lol.

Well, I need to get the bills paid, the baby bathed and my loads of stuff together to take with me.  Hopefully tomorrow I can write about the new issue of TEACH magazine.  I just love that magazine, it's so edifying to me.  Have a nice day everyone!

Oct. 15, 2009 - Wow it's been a while....

Posted in This and That

Life gets busy with a new baby.  I know I blogged while number 6 was a baby, but I guess because I was in baby mode still from the others, I adjusted better.  But with number 7, I have had a harder time adjusting.  It could also be that I'm older.....nah, it couldn't be that.

Life has been busy for me, as I'm sure it has been for all of you.  I have been reorganizing my planner to work for me now that life has changed.  You know that is one of the hardest things for me in having a large family, adjusting to changes.  When you have a larger than average family there are just more changes that take place.  Changes in who sleeps where, what each room's purpose is for, adjusting to different age groups.  And I am not one that does well with change.  That's funny because as a child we moved about every 6-9 months so I had a whole heaping lot of change to adjust to, lol.    No, we weren't a military family either.  Just moved a lot.  Anyway, now that I'm older I realize that change isn't an easy thing for me.

I've also been doing a bit of Christmas planning.  This year will be mostly hand made gifts.  Handmade for each of our extended friends and family.  And handmade for my children.  As my bank account balance gets smaller my creativity and industriousness need to increase.  It's a good thing that I enjoy making things.

Yesterday I put up coat racks in my hallway for the children's coats.  We have needed something for our coats for a long time, but I keep thinking that the children could just hang them in their closets.  Well after 15 years of coats not getting hung up and needing to be re-washed because they were walked on on the floor, I finally realized I NEEDED a coat rack for the children.  So, I found some pretty ones on clearance and I hung one for the boys and one for the girls.  I am hoping to find a matching one with only two hooks to hold me and my husbands coats in between them.

Now I'm trying to solve our cat box problem.  Our cat has decided that he doesn't want to use a litter box anymore, he now wants to use laundry.  We have tried making him and indoor/outdoor cat, but he only stays at the door meowing and clawing all night long.  It makes for a really long night.  I don't want to take him back to the shelter so I'm trying to figure out a solution.

You know, I don't see a need to buy puzzle books to do for fun.  Life has all sorts of puzzles for us to figure out on a daily basis.

Well the phone is ringing so I need to scoot.  Hope to see you soon!

May. 28, 2009 - The Joys of Banking

Posted in This and That

Today I checked our finances online (I love to say finances it sounds like their is actually money their to manage.) While checking things I discovered the bank did something wacky. It's times like these that I wish that my husband would take over our finances. I am really not all that great at managing our money. Right now I am using my cell to type this so if there are any mistakes you know why, lol. Well, it's time to get lessons started. Hopefully soon I'll write a "real" blog entry.

Nov. 22, 2008 - Day 2 overdue....

Posted in This and That

Hmmm, what will I do today to keep my mind off the constant question of whether or not this will be the day.

So far I have written out my Christmas gift list and designed and printed out some labels on the computer.  I have washed several loads of laundry to take to the laundromat to dry later on today.  And I've done a load of dishes.

Not a whole lot, but something at least.  Yesterday I had some regular contractions, but nothing today.

So, other than my weekly laundry trip, what should I do to keep my mind occupied?  I have two crochet projects I would like to work on, but no yarn to do them, so that is out.  I could clean the garage with my husband, but I'm still too sore from my two mile walk with the dog yesterday.

I guess I'll just continue to focus on the laundry today.  And try to keep my mind off of food, because I have a serious case of the muchies today, lol.

Nov. 14, 2008 - Another busy weekend coming

Posted in This and That

Even though my energy level is low, I'm thankful for another busy weekend.  It really helps to know that I'll have lots to do to keep my mind off of when this little darling will make her arrival.

Each day of this weekend has a lot packed into it.  And today does too.

Now, if I could only get my mind to focus so that I could get a proper shopping list made out, lol.

For now though, I'm off to have a nap before the children wake up.  Hopefully that will bring a clearer head, lol.

Nov. 5, 2008 - It's been a while...

Posted in This and That

I've been really busy lately.  Busy trying to get my home in better order before baby comes.  Busy making gifts, and baby things and things for my girls.  Busy with school, and errands.  You know, normal busy.

I have finally finished all of my crochet projects, except for legwarmers which I want to make my girls for this winter.  So that is next and last on my list.  I made 4 cardigan's for the girls to go with their Christmas skirts I'll be making.  I won't be making them until after baby though, this huge belly is just making cutting anything out way too hard, lol.  And yesterday I whipped up another little blanket for the carseat.

I discovered that blankets 28-20 inches square are the perfect size to tuck around a baby in a carseat, but they don't fall out and they don't drag all over the place.  So I made a few of those.  My girls are way excited about those because once baby grows out of them, they get them for their dolls.

My husband and I are pretty sure that this little darling will be our last baby.  So, I am determined to enjoy every minute of her infancy.  We have chosen a name, Grace Ariella.  Actually, my husband picked it out and this is the only girl of ours that he has named.  I think he made a good choice and I was completely stumped as to a name for her.

I can't believe that I only have 15 days until my due date.  For me that will probably be longer because I have always gone past my due date.  I'm curious about this baby though.  This is the first baby that has measured right on as far as dates go during my ultrasounds.  All my others always measured a week behind, so I'm curious to see if this baby comes out closer to her due date or if I'm still a week behind.

Honestly, I don't really want her to be born on Thanksgiving, but whatver the Lord wants.

Well, I have better get going.  Today's list is just as long as every other day's list, lol.

Have a wonderful day!

Oct. 22, 2008 - The nesting has begun

Posted in This and That

Yesterday I spent hourse sorting the children's clothing and removing summer clothes etc.  Then I reorganized the clothes room.  Afterwards I spent the rest of the day having contractions.  It was lovely, lol.

Today, I will be deep cleaning my kitchen.  It will be so nice to remove some of the junk that has accumulated.  And hopefully I won't let myself go down too many rabbit trails.

At some point this week I would like to get some sewing done.  Hopefully, Friday and Saturday.  I want to make several laundry bags to hang up.

Anyway, this is just a short post because I have lots to do today and need to get busy, lol.

Have a great day!

Oct. 18, 2008 - I added PDF's to all my patterns

Posted in This and That

I have heard of a small percentage of people that have trouble viewing my blog.  This from investigation appears to be an issue with the viewers browser settings.  I can't help them fix that but I wanted them to still have access to a pattern that they may have come looking for.

So, this morning I converted each of my pattern entries into a pdf.  That way all they have to do is download the pdf version and they can easily read the instructions for that pattern.  They aren't the pretties or most professional looking pdf's as I just copied the posts and converted them, but they will work.  I don't think any links inside them work though, so information to specific stitches will have to be searched out.

I hope that making these patterns available on pdf will help those that have trouble viewing my blog.

Oct. 12, 2008 - I started designing a sweater to go with the hat and booties!

Posted in This and That

It will be a different color since I only had a smidgeon of the original color left.  But I think it will be cute.  And it will be EASY to make.  Because I'm really just a beginner at these types of things.  It  should be ready in the next few days.

And here is a tip for anyone that is exhausted at night and doesn't always get the things done they should at night.  If you are using the Flylady cinnamon bun recipe, and you flake out and don't assemble it the night before, you can still succeed in time for breakfast.  Just get up at 6:00 a.m. and assmebe it with the frozen rolls, then pop it into the oven at 140 degrees for about an hour and a half and then it will be ready to bake.  I was so tired last night that I fell asleep before assembling my oldest son't birthday breakfast.  Bad mommy!  But all is well, it's smells wonderful as it's baking right now.

Oct. 10, 2008 - Nothing new and exciting

Posted in This and That

There is nothing new and exciting happening today.  At least I hope we don't get some unexpected excitement, with 6 kids that is not always a good thing, lol.

So today I will knuckle down and actually pay the bills (I don't know why it's like pulling teeth lately to get me to pay the bills....what is up with that?).  And I will work on getting some of the recent patterns I have designed organized to be placed on my blog.

The children are still sick with the flu and I don't feel really great so we will take it easy.

Oh, there is a mix up at the DMV involving our car insurance and the DMV wanting to suspend our registration on two of our cars.  I contacted the insurance company and the DMV weeks ago and thought it was resolved.  But registered mail recently recieved shows that the insurance company dropped the ball and the DMV is suspending our registration on the 17th.  So, Monday I'm going to head into town and try to get this resolved.  If you think of me, please pray for this situation.

Well, I'm drowsy and chilly, so I"m going to curl up in bed with some pink yarn and a crochet hook.  Have a wonderful day.

Today I am just tired.  I haven't done much of anything.  A little laundry, a little dishes and that is pretty much it.  And now I'm so tired I just want to curl up and sleep.  Hmmmm, I wonder if there is any way I could work that out......

Aug. 29, 2008 - I don't....

Posted in This and That

  • I don't want to cook today.
  • I don't want to clean today.
  • I don't want to bake cupcakes and go shopping today.
  • I don't want to be sweet and patient and attentive.
  • I don't want to organize another thing today.
  • I don't want to referree disagreements, and train my children today.
  • I don't......

I just want to be a selfish woman today.

But......I will....

  • I WILL cook 3 meals today cheerfully and with a thankful heart that we have food to prepare.
  • I WILL clean up after those meals and clean whatever else I find time for.
  • I WILL bake cupcakes and go shopping so that we can enjoy my youngest daughters birthday tomorrow.
  • I WILL do my best to be sweet and patient and attentive to each of my children today.  Knowing that these days are fleeting and I'll treasure every conversation later.
  • I WILL organize some other area of my home today to make my family's life easier in some way.
  • I WILL referree disagreements and train my children today.  This is so that I can reap the rewards of that training tomorrow.
  • I WILL.....

You know why I will?  Because I am supposed to work as unto the Lord.  And love my neighbor as myself.  And if I'm being my own selfish woman today then I am not working as unto the Lord, I'm serving only myself.  And if I'm only serving myself, then I can't possibly be loving my neighbor as myself, because I am too focused on me.

So, how about you?  What are you going to do today that you just don't want to?

Aug. 21, 2008 - Ooooo, look at this!

Posted in This and That

I was made aware of Snugglebottoms diapers and I think I'm going to buy half a dozen for the diaper bag.  They are super reasonably priced and have good reviews.  I prefer to have special dipes for the diaper bag so I don't have to keep switching things around.  I'm weird that way.  And if I like them I just may use them for the next size up diaper because they are so affordable.  I'm not sure yet because I really like the way flats wash up.  If I do go with the next size up, I will probably not go with velcro closing, and just use pins.

I have plenty of time to decide, lol.

I really need to turn my mind away from baby planning to Christmas planning because it is really sneaking up on us.  And to afford it this year will take lots of creativity.  It's a good thing that is one of my gifts. Ha-ha.

Well, I need to try to get some rest this morning, because I keep falling asleep at 7:30.  Have a good day all.

Aug. 14, 2008 - I had such fun this morning

Posted in This and That

This morning I printed off lots of patterns from Crochet Pattern Central.  I printed off play food patterns, to make for the girls kitchen set.  Christmas ornament patterns, and Christmas stocking patterns.  I have some handmade stockings for my children, but I would really like to have them all match so I would like to make them each new ones and one for the new baby.  And a couple other oddball patterns.  Now I will be super busy until baby comes with various crochet projects.  Yippee!

Oh I found a cute pattern for small stockings to hang on the tree.  I thought it would be neat to number them 1-25 and use them for our Christmas countdown.  A tiny treat can go inside each one for each of the children and a rolled up printed bible verse to read each day.

Now to figure out the yarn colors I will need and squeeze out the money to buy the yarn, lol.  That's part of the fun, right?

Aug. 12, 2008 - Which would you choose?

Posted in This and That

Would you choose a maid or full-time kitchen help?  If I had a choice I would choose full-time kitchen help.  Because really to do a good job on meal planning, cooking and being frugal you need to spend full days in there.  So, I would love to have a full-time kitchen worker that planned the meals using the budget I give them.  And they would do all the cooking and keeping the kitchen clean.  And all the meals would be nutritionally balanced.  Ahhhh, sweet relief.

I would choose this over a maid because I can't stand the thought of someone else cleaning up my families grunge.  I just feel like if we make the mess we should clean it.  And if I didn't have to spend so much time in the kitchen (doing a mediocre job I might add) I would have the extra time to spend on the cleaning details.

And the wonderful extra time I would have for my children.....

That is my silly dream-thought for today.  Now, if I suddenly came into a large sum of money to where it was doable would I actually do it?  Probably not because I'm such a control nut, lol.

But the dream is nice....

Which would you choose?

Aug. 11, 2008 - Okay I'm weird...

Posted in This and That

I get grossed out about used cloth diapers.  There I've said it.  It's out in the open.  I know that there are many who buy used cloth diapers to save money, or to get the fancy diapers for a more affordable price.  And if you are good with that, then great.  But honestly is just grosses me out.  I look at it in this way, I have no intention of buying used underwear at the thrift store for me or my children.  I just find it icky.  So why would I want to put used cloth diapers on my baby?  I mean diapers are lots grosser than underwear when you think about it.  Yes, I know you wash them and bleach them, but I just can't get past it.

So, there will be no used dipes on my little ones bum.  Not that I'm being a snob at all either.  Because there won't be any super cute fancy diapers on her either, lol.  Just the basic plain inexpensive cloth diapers.  And when I need to upsize I will be recycling my recieving blankets into the next size up of diapers to use as flats.  So, I'm not totally crazy.  I just can't get past the ick factor.

Aug. 8, 2008 - Shopping at 4 a.m.

Posted in This and That

Shopping at 4 in the morning is lots of fun.  There are no other customers, and the Walmart employees are friendly....that is amazing to me, lol.  Each and every employee I passed greeted me cheerfully, I guess I could have been dressed funny, so I could have put them in good spirits....but I just think they were in general happier.

And what would normally take much longer because of other customer cart dodging, takes only a few minutes.  And it's soooo quiet you can actually think.  If you haven't gone shopping in the wee hours of the morning, then I highly reccomend it.

And today I was actually able to buy a printer cartridge.....finally.  So, I don't have to write out by hand my motivated moms daily planner....that was getting old.  I was writing each days list in a spiral notebook, lol.  I have the full size daily version with Bible readings in case you are wondering.  What a relief to not have to do that anymore.  And being the silly person that I am, I just respect a printed out list better than I do my handwritten lists.  Am I quirky or what???

Well, I had better finish printing out the patterns I am planning on making.  The nursing cover pattern, the lacy shell poncho pattern, and the fleece soaker diaper cover pattern.  I can now get started on these projects.

Yesterday I cut out the fabric pieces for my nursing covers, but somehow my bag of coordinating thread has gone missing.  So that will be on hold until I find my thread, because I'm too cheap to buy more.  I can make the fleece soakers, I have a fleece blanket that I can turn into an extra cover or two.  And I need to get started on the ponchos for Christmas gifts for my girls.

I love to keep my hands busy with creative things.

Aug. 6, 2008 - I was super blessed today

Posted in This and That

A very special Momys sent me some adorable things for the baby and I recieved them today.

An adorable dress, isn't it sweet?

And this beautiful blanket that I can bring baby home in.  It's so sweet and girlie pretty, lol.  The kitty likes it too.

And she also ordered me a special blanket from Bundled in Prayer.  Its so beautiful and soft and such a special blanket with the prayers that went along with the making of it.  isn't it the prettiest blanket?

It was such a treat to check the mail today and find these waiting for me.  My girls love the pretty girlie baby things and it makes them all the more excited for when baby is born.

Thank you to the special Momy that sent this to me.  You will never know how much you blessed me today.
