Sons Of Liberty on the Coffee Table

We are quickly moving toward Revolution, both in the United States and in France, as we progress through history!

Below are the books we are reading to compliment the next four weeks of our Tapestry of Grace studies:

My favorites? All the Jean Fritz and Elizabeth George Speare titles are fantastic! We are also captivated with the two picture books about John Harrison, the inventer of the sea clock. (Sea Clocks by Louise Borden and The Man Who Made Time Travel by Kathryn Lasky).

I emailed you, then I came over here and found a book post! Ooo, I jsut love a book post, I'm off to follow some of those links now...
But before I go I have a question: When I looked at TOG's year 2 list, I thought "That is going to take me 2 years!" Then I read on one of the boards that with the redesign it really shouldn't, one year would be enough. So my question is: how are you all doing with it? Do you go at your own pace, or are you 'keping up'? Just curious! - Veronica

As always...a great list! We also love the Jean Fritz books. We own many on the list, there are a few that are new to me and I'll have to check them out. Sign of the Beaver is our read-a-loud this week and I think it's Rock's most favorite read-a-loud yet!

Tuesday, May 6, 2008 - Ooh, I have a question too :)

So, since I'm a TOG newbie, could you tell me how you keep your book costs down? I'm busy checking ebay and the libraries around here. . . we don't have interlibrary loan :(

Any tips you could pass along?

I'd love to hear how you like With Pipe, Paddle and Song: A Story of the French-Canadian Voyageurs by Elizabeth Yates. I've had it reserved for 6 months at our library and just got a notice that it was lost and not coming :-(. I had really wanted to try it before I bought it, but I may just order it anyways. Nothing like a good excuse to get extra books!

At our house we're currently reading through the Underground Railway.
