One of my commentators asks, "What is millet?" Well, I may not know WHY I have so much of the stuff, but I do know what it is. There is, of course, Millet, the French painter.
But the millet in my pantry looks like this:

Here's the definition from the New Oxford English Dictionary:
millet
noun [mass noun] a fast-growing cereal which is widely grown in warm countries and regions with poor soils. The numerous small seeds are widely used to make flour or alcoholic drinks.
• Several species in the family Gramineae, in particular common millet (Panicum miliaceum), of temperate regions, the tropical finger millet (Eleusine caracana), which is a staple in parts of Africa and India, and pearl millet.
And Tammy gave me instructions on how to make breakfast out of it! Thanks Tammy! I'm going to try this later this week! The girls were begging to eat the millet so they could be just like birds. (I think they are hoping that if they eat bird food they will be able to fly.)

| Dell, millet is a delicious breakfast cereal. It takes just 20 minutes to cook. You can put a little butter in the pan, and slightly brown the millet before you cook it, but it isn't necessary. For each cup of millet, use two cups of water. Bring to a boil, then let simmer. You should stir it a few times while it is cooking. |
Or perhaps I DID intend to make juggling bags from it as Grumpy Dave suggested! (Millet is much better than sand for such things.) It would also explain all the little wedge shaped pieces of cloth in my scrap box, that would make nice little juggling balls if sewn together. |
