Woof-Woof (A walk with Kieran)

Kieran and I went for a walk to the mailbox.

Bunny says, "Woof! Woof"

First we saw  a bunny.  Kieran pointed excitedly, "Woof!  Woof!"  I reminded him that bunnies don't woof, woof, but go "hop, hop, hop!"  I must have moved my hand up and down to demonstrate, because he took a single finger, bouncing it up and down and echoed, "hop, hop, hop."  We followed the bunny out of our yard and down the street.  Brave little bunny let us get within a foot or two of it.

ROAR!
Next we saw a monarch butterfly.  "Woof!  Woof! ROAR!"  Kieran is determined that all animals either "Woof" or "Roar!".

Weaving my hands together I signed butterfly, explaining in a butterfly-soft whisper, "Butterflies are quiet, they go 'Flutter, Flutter!' "

Kieran was unconvinced.  "ROAR!"

The butterfly, meanwhile, in danger of being stomped by a ferocious, roaring toddler, escaped to the top of my shoe and thus hitchhiked back to our house for the other children to examine.  We released it in our little garden plot, and an hour latter as the sun warmed it's chilly wings, it fluttered over the housetop.

Butterfly On My Shoe

Stay tuned for more exciting adventures with the prairiefrogs!  Maybe we will do something thrilling like walk to the dumpster.

That is too cute! I love to hear kids and wonder what they are really thinking. I am looking forward to hearing more words from my youngest!

BTW, the haircut looks great! Such handsome boys and pretty girls!

He's all boy and very cute!

I showed Logan your picture of the butterfly on your shoe (very cool) and asked him, "What does a butterfly say?"

He must be maturing, because he said, "It says nothing."

I love the picture of him leaning over to observe the butterfly. How sweet! Butterflies are soo fascinating!

The butterfly that is on the shoe is a Painted Lady Butterfly... very similar to the Monarch. (Monarchs are my favorite!)

Oh! It probably was a "painted lady" and not a monarch. I thought the outside of the wings (when folded together) didn't look quite right for a monarch.. it was more brown outside than I remembered monarchs being!

Thanks for the information!

If you didn't expect it to be such an exciting trip, why'd you take your camera along? LOL! :)

I wish we were next door neighbors, instead of, you know, living 2000 miles apart: I wanna squeeze those baby cheeks!

Hey, dumpsters can be exciting! We once got 20 or so tents out of a dumpster, all in very good condition.

You take such great pictures. Right now I don't even have a camera to take a bad one.

Abiding in the Vine!
