A Staycation in Review

Ken was off work last week, and were were gardening PrairieFrogs!

We began a little square-foot garden, and furthered our existing attempts at landscaping the grounds.  Our windswept plain is rather harsh, with a much shorter growing season and more extreme conditions than we were used to in Colorado, so it has taken us years to get brave enough to try vegetables.

This year we are trying!  We'll see what a summer of tending can produce!

Planted Plots
Will our tomatoes, celery, chives, onions, garlic peppers, celery, lettuce, carrots and herbs bring forth delicious bounty?  Stay tuned!

I've really enjoyed reading your blog, I only came across it a little while ago. I wanted to say how lovely the raised beds looked, I pray that you will get plenty of veggies from them. My children enjoy our small veggie garden, it is so much fun.

Interesting how you used cement blocks! I like how you paved the pathways too. I'll be interested to hear how your garden grows this year!

The beds look great! I can't wait to hear how your crops turn out! We have to build one more bed and fill them and plant them still. All I have actually growing right now are 3 cucumber plants and 1 cherry tomato plant (in an existing planter)

What a great idea using the cement blocks! I would have never thought of that. That would work really well here, were it stays so wet. Wood just rots and vinyl is much more expensive.

I hope you have a wonderful harvest!

I just came across your blog. What a great project! The kids look like they are enjoying themselves. I have always loved fresh garden veggies. I haven't the slightest idea how to grow and keep a garden :-( You blog is really nice. I have an award for you at my blog http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/crossrhodesacademy
