"Sounds smell sooo good!" It took me a moment to figure out what Kendra was talking about. (That's my quirky Kendra!) She was refering to Kieran's sound cards in their minty-fresh storage tin.
Just because he's not verbal doesn't mean he doesn't love phonics. Interestingly, while he refuses to say most words, he'll gleefully say the phonemes; he loves pointing to the card and saying the sounds.
He's using the the "Kid Sized Sound Practice Cards" that are keyed to Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons--the book I've used to teach reading to his four older siblings. The sounds shown are single letter sounds, but the set includes blends too. It gives our littlest scholar a way to play along with us in our school day.
Mmmm! Creme de Menthe phonemes!
