Sunday Fare

We enjoyed our fellowship at church immensely and the big girls were especially attentive in the service . (Although Kendra was diligently following along in Colossians–and the sermon was in Hebrews.) (And yes, the much requested--or more demanded--brownies were a hit at the potluck again.  I took real food too--a crock pot of ham and massed potato casserole.)

It is a beautiful day, and after the potluck the children romped outside, mostly avoiding the mud puddles created by the melting snow. Back at home Kaira and Kendra are further enjoying the mild weather. In a short while I shall head outdoors myself. The rootbound aloe plant in my windowsill needs repotting.

I enjoy our restful Sundays. In keeping with our Sunday custom, dinner will be... whatever falls out of the refrigerator.  Ken will have already gone to bed in preparation for switching back to nights for the week. Even when he wasn't on nights though, I’ve just never had an inclination to make a true "meal" on Sunday night. Maybe it is genetic. My mother usually did pizza or "refrigerator fall out" on Sunday nights too. Pizza seems a common Sunday evening tradition, as Ken’s family did that on Sunday nights as well.

What do you eat on Sunday evenings?

We enjoy our restful Lord's Days. Food and fellowship are always a fun time, too.
We typically have 'refrigerator fall outs' on Sundays, too. If I remember to set something out on Saturday, then sometimes we'll have a quick crockpot meal like beef stew, roast, or chili. Other than that, it's a smorgasboard.

Enjoy the rest of the Lord's Day. Tonight we are having a singspiration with lots of special music and congregational hymn singing! Oh how I love to make a joyful noise unto the Lord!

Sunday, February 26, 2006 - Popcorn!!

Posted by Melkhi
As a PK growing up, my family often invited everyone in our small church over to our house after the evening service for food and fellowship (mainly in the summer). My mom would put out popcorn, ham and cheese and crackers, cake or cookies, maybe some cut-up veggies and dip, and sun tea on a table. The adults would sit around our living room and dining room with plates to talk, while the kids played in the basement. When it was just our family, we often ate cereal for supper before church, but always had popcorn after the service... In my family, the kids often eat cereal, or bread and honey, or cheese and fruit. I continue to enjoy popcorn many Sunday evenings either before or after church. Sometimes we've had a family over after church and had rootbeer floats.

Just stopping by to ask if you would please spread the word about Emily's surgery Tuesday morning? I have a prayer list on my blog for anyone who would like to take a specific time to pray as well.

Thanks,
Amy

For us, our main meal on Sunday is right after church. Then, in the evening, it's snacks or just "whatever". Sounds like you had a good day!

I'm trying to work it out so that Sunday night is leftover night...but the kids keep eating the leftovers before they can be leftover long. LOL I usually just try and make something quick and easy, like soup and sandwiches (and when I say soup, I mean the stuff from a can. Not much work goes into this.)

Thanks for praying for Emily.

“Pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to him for the lives of your children.” Lamentations 2:19 (NIV)

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 (NKJV)

In Him,
