The best laid plans....
Well, today was supposed to be the "first day of the rest of my homeschooling life." Apparantly, God had other plans.
I'm just now switching from a couple of different curriculum and have decided on a Charlotte Mason approach (along with Unit Studies). I've really been gung-ho about it. We went to Costco and purchased a bunch of pretty paper and binders for our notebooks we're going to do. I've been pouring over books to find really great copywork and dictation passages. I got rid of a bunch of workbooks sitting around here on PaperBackSwap.com. I've been planning and reading and planning and reading. So today was going to be my big, first fully-Mason day. Silly me decided that day should be the morning my baby was to have her vaccinations. Oh, and the morning after my 12yo daughter's big choir concert (that kept us out until after 10pm last night). So needless to say, today did NOT go as planned.
But even with that, it wasn't too terrible. The girls chose their own copywork (since I was too tired last night to plan it). We started discussing the differences among the different colonial regions and began making little "circle books" from Hands-on History. And they did a lot of independent reading. Not too bad I guess.
Our Homeschool Convention is this Friday and Saturday. I'm so excited. I'm trying to locate used Beechick books and my own copy of the Charlotte Mason Companion. I just hope I don't get "sucked in" by all the pretty curricula. I think I'm a sucker for anything that has a picture of a cute little child curled up on her mother's lap on the front. You could slap a pretty picture on the front of a book with empty pages and I'd probably buy it!
I thought I'd post a link to something neat I discovered today. I take part in an online "webinar" Bible study geared towards homeschool mom's. It's put on by Cindy Rushton. Well, she's putting together an online homeschool conference. They are going to have tons of speakers. You just download the conference room software and participate during the conference times. The link is

I just thought I'd throw that out there for anyone who might be interested.
Thanks to everyone who left comments on my first post! That made my day!

That is too funny! I am the same way with buying books, problably worse, that is how I ended up owning a bookstore! I get a bit better each passing year. All this year we have stuck with the same curriculum! Amazing!

All in all, sounds like you had a great day!
As for me and my family, we are all seriously addicted to books. We plan to build a library in our future home. We need it just to store all the books : )
