Notice anything different...

Now for the most important question of the hour, what do you think???? I will take constructive criticism quite well, and may even change aspects that you find disagreeable, if at all possible.

In answer to the most obvious question, yes I did design this page myself, and assembled it, and cried over it, and yelled at it, this is my labor of love...Sigh, isn't it beautiful?

However, any proud parent deserving of that title should be quite willing to hear their child's rough areas, and then to work diligently on them. If I do not hear what is going on, I will assume everything is perfect, and we need only look to our Bibles to see that there has been only one person/place/thing/idea (in other words a noun) that ever achieved perfection, and for me to have created the second one would be quite the amazing accident indeed.

Yes, I do have things to post upon, such as a historical item (with photos), a civil war party, and the assorted tags forever laying about. Those will be coming upon the days that are yet to be.

Time, that harvester of the deeds of the day, is following close behind me, and I feel the need to depart for bed. First, I will leave you with a few lines of one of my favorite poets, William Blake:

The sun descending in the west,
The evening star does shine;
The birds are silent in their nest,
And I must seek for mine.

To anyone that might make a criticism on or about this blog..........DON'T!!

Ben has spent many many hours working on designing his template, with never ending questions like: "What do you think about this color?" or "Does this emblem thingy look weird to you?"

So if you value ultimately my life, but your life as well, please keep your comments positive.

Ben,
The template is a nice change. I never really liked the blue and white anyway. It just didn't seem like you. But there is this one little thing I would change... oops. Never mind.

I like your template very much!
I would compare it to your former template, but as a first time visitor to your blog i find this to be quite impossible.
Thank you for the privilege of reading through your blog! It made me smile!
What college did you go to? I'm still in high school [either a softman or a juvenile... i have yet to get the hang of these particular categories] but i'm planning to take a medical class at a college here either this or next autumn, depending upon the outcome of an interview on Wednesday!
Do you like being the oldest of so many kiddos? I am the second of nine and i love it! [most of the time, that is. *smile*]

So what do I start calling you "Sir Hector?" I think that should work for time being.

I love the new template and it is not at all what I guessed it was going to be. But I do love it and the colors are so perfect!

You did a great job on the "new look". I guess some of the graphic design stuff actually did rub off. Keep up the good work.

Oh, I do love the poem. It was so sweet.

I am looking forward to your future posts. Don't forget to interject some photos for all of us "visuals".

Love & Blessings, Mom

Mar. 3, 2008 - ~ Hello....~

I saw this template on your test blog the other day and loved it!

Where did you get the font for that banner? Eric Novak might help me build a new blog (I already have my own domain name, I just have to get new hosting), so I've been thinking about designs. I've always wanted to do a similar "Renaissance" flair, perhaps in the header banner like the one you made. I really like that font - how did you get a hold of it? I also like the red/burgundy/gold look.

I hope to stop by your blog again!

MAY GOD BLESS,
~Amanda~

The colors are very nice, the picture is perfect for your blog, the background graphics are lovely, and the layout is good. On the whole I'd have to say that you did a very nice job. :-)
(Oh, and I like your new avatar too.) ;-)
Have a great day!

BFH,
Very nice. The red arial font on black is a little tough on 50 year old eyes, but other than that, I wouldn't change a thing. I especially like the header photo of Mountain Ranch, but I'm not sure who the owner of the boat might be.

Very nice! What's the location of the header picture, just out of curiousity?
Congratulations on finishing school!! Though for some of us, that seems WAY off in the distant future.... haha. I'm glad your final test went well.

Have a good week and I'll talk to ya later,
Ashley

I think the red is a beautiful and very rich color! And to make it better, the gold and black accents gives it a most wonderful regal feel! I really think it's an improvement.

Linds: Well, No-mas said that I shouldn't say anything against your blog.... so for his sake I will remain silent... I love the colors and the picture at the top.

(In the background)

Dad: It looks very pretty

Mom: ... you should write that, I bet Thomas will get a kick out of that.

Linds: I can't stand it any longer... Ben, I like everything about your blog, except for... your avatar... you look a little "frodo-esque"

Dad: Wasn't that the look he was going for?

Rach: He looks unhappy... I might need to cheer him up!!!

Linds: ... or is it Anekin-esque.... " I killed them all!!!!"

Rach: Life is great

Linds: Oh no... not ME again

Rach: T.V. Check

Eve: Great blog Ben!!

Mal: Well, I'm the one who marries her!! ( just kidding, she isn't actually here)

(It's after hours, we have to go to bed, see ya tomorrow)

My deepest thanks for all of the kind words. Yes, to give nod to A. N. Onymous' astute comment, there is a touch of the established regal; that, combined with an Italian warmth (Hence the Venetian canal photo) is exactly the look I was attempting to capture. Ah, to travel to Italy! I swoon... (And I catch myself, as a gentleman always catches those who may swoon about him.)

Linds! You were right! That is the one aspect that was bothering me, the avatar was all wrong, wrong, wrong... The correct term escaped me, but Frodo-esque, is exactly right. Now I have an excuse to use my backup (and secretly preferred) avatar. It is an absolutely beautiful painting by Gustave Moreau. I would love to own it someday, but seeing that it is in the National Gallery of London, that may not be possible; However, should the British government ever become short on funds, I will be the first in line at the gallery to purchase this painting and help alleviate their financial difficulties! In case there was any confusion, I am supposed to be the one ON the horse...

Later!

I do believe that is a strange word and looks far better with punctuation...

I like the new avatar, thanks for making it a bit bigger for older eyes (Notice I did NOT say "old" eyes!)

Well kick me about and call me green! Whooo weee!
I was clicking along on my computer named Charlie and thought absent mindedly "I guess I could check Ben's blog . . ." I fire up the world wide web and, BAM!!
I was thoroughly impressed with the intricate detail of the "new look"! (No, this excitment is not due to Thomas' pushy comment. I don't always do what he says). I honestly like this whole look a lot! Very . . . Ben-ish . . . meaning extravagant. The word "debonair" comes to mind, although I'm not sure if that works all the way. But that is what I thought of, and that is what I'll say.
I just got back from the Emergency Room . . . golly! I'm glad to be back. I might have to go back in two days if it's not healing. Hopefully all is well.

I need to go and get ready for bed - It's 12:30 ish a.m.

Sir Hector-

I loved your other avatar better. It went really well with the rest of the blog.

Love, Miss Elizabeth

P.S. Yes, I know I've probably left you to many comments about your "new look" but you asked for feedback and now you have it, lol :)

Your description under your avatar is, perhaps, missing the word "to" as in "continue to live."
Oh how I love proofreading. The good old days.
Congratulations on entering the real world.
I do like your new page as there is not enough red in the world. Sort of dark, but inviting all at once.

Sir Benjamin Hector,

I am very happy my point is sticking in your head. I'm not sure if everyone got it but at least you did and that counts for something. Your entry's always make me think so I should make you think for once, lol :) Just joking.....

Well after seeing it a couple of times, your new avatar isn't that bad, actually it is pretty cool. Reminds me of you....

Well, I didn't think I'd ever have the opportunity to say this, but after seeing your avatar...You look great in long hair!
I like long hair on guys sometimes. I've tried to get Mr. Dunfee to grow his long so he could have a small ponytail, but he won't do it. Even though his high school grad picture is very close.

And I agree with your dad about the red on black. Although I'm NOT 50.
