I have 17 cats outside (ANYONE want a CAT!??) 8 are kittens..cute as can be BUT for some reason all these cats are on a killing spree. We are finding all sorts of creatures on the doorstep. bird feathers, chipmunks, baby squirrels. All so very sad. Oh & all the moles, yuk. In true homeschool kid fashion my kiddos saved a chipmunk from the clutches of my furry beasts & put him in a "habitat" and named him "Alvin". They totally took care of him themselves taking an old fishtank, filling it with dirt, rocks, leaves, food & water..They did a great job. They observed Alvin for 24 hours then let him go. Right before they did "Theodore" was caught by the cats & he was in shock we are unsure if he was handled too much or not, he was breathing but looked dead, so we think he was just in shock & the kids put him in a box & took him back to the woods. They were going to try to catch several small animals & put on an animal show volunteering to research each animal they find & give a report on the animal but realized Alvin had to go sooneer than they could capture. VOLUNTEERING TO STUDY??! Yup...my kids are home schooled & Praise God for that! |

In my Unit Study venture I am happy so far with edhelper, I purchased a membership and am really glad I did. I can customize lessons to the levels of my 3 kids grades, and they have alot of themed units. About.com/unitstudies is also great & is free. Finally for now, In the hands of a child. I am sure there is so much more out there to explore and I will check it all out! Anyone with great sources especially internet free comment me! |
