Mickey and Walt...Together From the Start

Posted in Disneyland

I was in Wal-Mart with my mom, and I noticed a placemat with all of the presidents on it. There was also a placemat with all of the states on it, and my mom decided to get them both.

So, I was looking at them when I started to look for the presidents that were president when Walt Disney was born. Then I found the president who ended his term the same year that Walt Disney was born (1901). His name wasWlliam Mckinley.

Why is this so interesting? Well, if you take his last name (Mckinley), take off the n and l (Mckiey), and move the i two places to the left, you end up with Mickey.

It turns out, however, that he was not President the same date that Walt Disney was born, but it was the same year. According to a book I have, Birnbaum's 2006 Walt Disney World For Kids By Kids, Walt Disney was born on the date of Dec. 5, 1901, and, according to this placemat, President William Mckinley ended his presidencey on 09/14/1901.

But I still found it interesting that you could make Mickey out of the name of a president that ended his term the same year as the original artist of Mickey Mouse was born.

New Attraction Coming

Posted in Disneyland

We recently got back from a trip to Disneyland and California Adventure, and I have some new information.

To start off with, I recently posted about where the submarines ride used to be. You can read that by clicking here. Well, when we were there last, they had signs around it and it turns out that it will be Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.

Also, in the same previously mentioned post, I talked about a book saying something about a field just a couple of blocks away from the two parks of the Disneyland Resort, where they are trying to get it zoned for a new park. Well, when we were there, there was a field. And it was very close to Disneyland and California Adventure.

So, time has answered a few questions, but more time must elapse before all of these questions are answered.

Possible Park?

Posted in Disneyland

I was looking through a book and found something very surprising. Apparently, according to this book, Disney owns a piece of property a few blocks away from the Disneyland Resort, and they are trying to get this property zoned for a theme park.

How accurate is it? I don't know, I have not heard or read this anywhere else, but if it is true, it could be very exciting.

The question is, if it is true, what kind of park will it be. Well, the book does say that Disney apparently tried to build an Amercan park. It also says something about an attempt at a Westcot park.

There is, however, the possibility that it will be a water park. It would kind of be dissapointing for my family if that is the case, because we do not go to water parks. But that does not mean that it is not a possibility. Considering the fact that Walt Disney World has two, and the Disneyland Resort has none, raises the possibility, unfortunately, higher.

Another question is transportation. Right now the Disneyland park and the Disney's California Adventure park are right across from each other, so a transportation between the two parks is unnecessary. But if a park opens up a couple of blocks away from the two parks then transportation, between the parks, would be nice. So, would it have a shuttle, or would it extend the monarail with an extra stop, or maybe a combination, or even something comletely different?

If you would like to read the book I was referring to, click here.

Speaking of possibilities, I think that there is a good possibility that there could be a new attraction coming to the Disneyland park. The reason I think this is because, the last time we were at Disneyland, there was signs up around the area, on the border between Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, where the submarines ride used to be. The signs said things like "Imagineers at Play." Then when we were going up to the monarail, we could see what was in there, and we saw that it was drained and someone was down there working.

Only time will answer all of these questions.

Jungle Cruise Fact

Posted in Disneyland

I was looking at the Jungle Cruise webpage on the Disneyland Resort website, and found this interesting fact:

When the Jungle Cruise first opened it linked up with the Rivers of America. It wasn't until New Orleans Square was developed in 1966 that the waterways were separated.
